I saw a post yesterday that inspired me to make this post. I'll be 30 this August, and I've been working in Warehouse for 10ish years. I recently got hired at this small place 3 weeks ago. Today I had to call in sick. I know this doesn't look good, but I've been in and out of the bathroom every 10 minutes. I texted my boss that wouldn't be in, his response was “Ouch! Only 3 weeks in the job. Hope you'll be back Monday” From here on instead of names, I'll be referring to my boss as “Boss” since that's how I address him at work. This man is the worst person I have ever worked for and I don't know what to do. I need this job, since I've been job hopping for the last 2 years and I need something stable for insurance and a steady paycheck.…

Feedback on a rejected resume does not give you money or a job, but it can help you indirectly by making it easier to find other jobs. Keeping your resume on file for future opportunities is exactly the same. It doesn’t give them money or a candidate but it makes it easier to source candidates later by giving them a pool to start with. If they won’t give you a small freebie to help you, don’t give them a small freebie to help them.
Also, several months ago, a law was made that shippers and receivers had to allow truck drivers to use the bathroom. Laws like this show how cruel businesses really are.
Unpopular opinion guy here. I like working at the office. I enjoy the separation of work and home. I also find it better for me. Less distractions. With that said, if you want to WFH you absolutely should be able. In fact it helps me because I would have less traffic to deal with daily and all the other benefits that come with less cars on the road. With that said, I’m saving all these articles so when the next pandemic comes, I can keep going into the office because now I can “prove” working from home “sucks”.
For context, my former teacher was involved in civil rights and labor rights movement from the 70-early 2000's; and she said striking/protest doesn't have the same power it once was but not because of the people involved mostly. One the laws make it much harder to protest/strike and are unequally applied to put it nicely. Two people can't afford to protest in the same way. So, many are on the edge that they can't protest because they literally can't risk it. The powers that be know that other than bad PR they can wait stuff out. Lastly, any protest will have to be not only prolonged but on a massive scale. All that being said she that she says that she has seen the younger folk do remarkable things and it is up to us to change things.
5 days a week is too much
Working 5 days a week, 8 (sometimes 9, 10, 12 etc) hours a day is just way too much. Even if you’re doing something you love it’s still way too much. You spend pretty much the whole week at work that you feel like you live at your job and only visit home. A lot of jobs can be completed in 3-4 hours yet you’re forced to stay there the whole day and do this every day of the week and pretty much the next 40 years. WTF? If you love your job to do it 8 hours a day, 5 days a week then good for you. But majority of us aren’t like that. We’re all just in it for the money some of us couldn’t give a toss about ‘making a difference’. We all have lives outside of work. A job shouldn’t be your sole purpose in life.…
It’s time we make a change!!
Ok reddit antiworkers I don’t know about you but I am sickened at what is happening in the USA. The workers started standing up for themselves during covid and making changes in the work force. We had pay increasing. Better work life balance. Improving benefits and time off. Then it seems like as a collective we stopped and all of that is going away. We need one concerted effort to demand change. We need to hurt their wallets. As a consumer we have the power but not the will. As a worker we have the will but not the power. It’s time to prove we are in fact both and we have the will and the power to force a change. I am calling for all employees to call into work from 11/23 til 11/27. If we shut down Black Friday weekend we take millions from the 1% while enjoying…
Cliquey and Rude Coworkers
I was put in charge of training her. She (let’s call her A). is very young (24) and not the brightest so I had a lot of concerns about her that I expressed to the property manager. I recently got promoted so that I’m basically a mentor for all the social service workers. A couple weeks ago I went out w A to have dinner because she says she wanted to discuss some things. She told me the following- the managers staff (pm, apm, and two other people they are friendly with from admin) would have lunches together and not invite her. Also the PM (A’s boss) had passed on information about A’s mental health/ learning disability to the APM. I had A over w me at a different property yesterday to assist w something. A guy working there in maintenance knew that they were having a cookout for staff…
Applying for anything at this point
So here I am, out of work for 2 months now and I'm applying all over. I went from things in my qualifications to just swinging wild and applying for things above and also things I don't want to do like fast food or convenience stores. I've had a few places set up phone interviews or in person and the phone interviews they just don't call. On the way to an in person they called to tell me I was no longer considered. Like fuck me, even getting emails asking me to apply and I do only to get one back saying no. Soul crushing.
