If businesses were required to pay a base salary that is appropriate for a job's responsibilities, takes into account the cost of living in the area, and includes a share of the business's profits, would this potentially harm a significant number of businesses, leading to a domino effect of business failures?
Why is this a surprise to them?
Found this on Nextdoor. I was glad to see that others were commenting about needing a living wage on this post, which of course the poster ignored completely.
I got sent a letter in the mail weeks ago saying that the line that I work on in the warehouse is being shutdown for repairs. As soon as it starts I’m being told that it was canceled despite no one telling me anything about it being canceled and they want me to come in. Surely this can’t be allowed right? If anyone has any advice on how to handle this would be much appreciated.
Our next step: stop paying back loans?
With the SC shutting down the student loan forgiveness, I think the next step is we get a large enough community together that just refuses to pay back any loans. So the question is: how many people would have to agree not to pay back loans for it to do more damage to the system than to us?
Work friends
We had a management meeting a few months back where the executive director told all of us, “Only befriend those who are in the same level field as you.” We are a group home setting so we have the DSPs, then the management team (supervisors- this includes me), and then the leadership team. She later went on to explain that if we are in management team we are only allowed to befriend other management and hang with them outside of work, and that goes for the rest of the work categories as well. Well most of us have worked our way up so we have friends who are “below” us. They didn’t like us being friends because we talked and gave them all in the information we possibly could and hung out with them outside of work which was looked down upon.
