Great Hiring Process
So as the title says, once my senior year starts I’m gonna be busy 61.5 hours/ week. 37.5 hrs/week at school 24hrs/week at work I’m going to be at school 8:00 AM- 3:30 PM, Mon- Fri, and at work 4:00 PM- 10:00 PM, Thurs- Sun. I am likely to be working at least some holidays and during school breaks. Backing out or asking for my hours to be reduced is not an option due to family. My question is, since there’s no way to back out, what is some advice this sub has on strategies to make a life with no free days and limited free hours just a little bit more manageable? This is the first time I’m ever going to be this busy and really anything that would help lessen the damage to my mental health would be super helpful! (I just need to survive until the end…
WFH is bad, again…
…but “If your manager makes your job suitable for working from home — provides you with support, makes sure there isn’t conflict and there’s lots of co-ordination with co-workers — then those negative effects start to go away. And presumably, they could go away entirely if an organisation handled it well enough.”
‘My tenant died, can I keep their car’
I am (very recently) working two jobs for two different small businesses. Both of the roles are similar and have the same pay and require me to be outside for the majority of the shift. The work is mostly fun since it’s with animals and that is my passion. I am struggling adjusting to my new schedule though. I work my new job Thursday-Monday and my old job Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Like the title says the days are mostly half days with the shortest shifts being around 3 hours and the longer shifts being about 5 and a half. It allows me to still have the majority of my day to myself but i am still finding myself being burnt out. My question is, do you think i will adjust to this and try to stick it out? or should not having full days off be a deal breaker for…
Of Tea and Harbors
Anybody else ready to get back to throwing tea into harbors? I understand that arguably we have 'representation' in the US government… but… we don't. We cannot continue to exist in this nature… and I know I'm preaching to the choir here. We can't afford housing. We can't afford food. We can't afford gas. We literally can't fucking afford to live in any respectable manner comparable to our peers the world over– and that isn't to discount our overseas counterparts ALSO suffering. I mean, look at this article from the Guardian today (or I guess, yesterday now in much of the world) saying it in no minced terms… At some point, push has got to fucking come to shove. I'm about to go grab some tea. (sry to our tea drinking friends… its nothing personal)
Long time lurker, but unfortunately I have no idea how formatting works on the phone, but anyways. I(18M) had a two hour conversation with my dad(56m) tonight, talking about minimum wage and how there’s no chance in the world for me to survive not living in his house. I spent a long while explaining that the minimum wage was originally designed to be a Livable Wage, to which he’d say “the only people who should be working minimum wage is people who are as young as you or senior citizens who don’t need the money.”. I went inside, grabbed a piece of paper, and showed him the literal math itself that would say I need to work 100+ hours on minimum wage to survive in this country. We agreed that the bare minimum to live was 2400$ where I am. (Rent, car, insurances, food, gas, water, electricity). We did not…
I think it's time every single person in America applies for the borrower defense application. I did and once they accept your loans are in forbearance until they approve or deny. If they don't approve or deny by a certain date they approve forgiveness automatically. 9/26 is my date. Everyone should apply and share this so we can overwhelm their systems so they can't get to everyone's application in time and have to forgive loans for not being able to approve or deny by their deadline. Everyone share this and overwhelm them https://studentaid.gov/welcome/?redirectTo=/borrower-defense/ Change cannot be achieved without action. We must fight corruption by striking it wherever it can be struck, at all times non stop.
Just had to pay back my sign on bonus a few months ago since I didn’t stay long enough for it to not be paid back. I don’t need it but always love it companies don’t care about the work you put in and want what they gave you!! Thankfully I only had to pay back the after tax amount and not the pre tax amount.
