So I have 7 days left to make the life of my employer the most miserable he will ever live. I want him to feel pain and to go absolutely nuts from now until August 5th. The plan is to write a full proof work contract in my favor that stays within legal limits. I need your help to add the most annoying and bullshit clauses that i can try and put in. Go nuts i absolutely do not care to lose this job i am a trucker driver it takes me less than an hour to find a new job but replacing me is a nightmare and this is where i want it to hurt. He can't fire me until August 5th cuz if he does he will have no choice but to cut short the vacation of another driver. Just the best fucking way to fuck up your…
Month: July 2023
This story takes place in WA btw. In case anyone here is familiar with labor laws or things along those lines. Long story short: my friend (Fred) lives with Nick. Nick is an alcoholic and he owns a local BBQ restaurant. Fred also works at this restaurant. The restaurant’s bookkeeper recently got arrested and went to jail for some sort of fraud charge unrelated to the restaurant. Nick in theory hired a new bookkeeper, but has not given this person any information on start date, etc because he has been busy getting absolutely plastered while Fred goes through severe alcohol withdrawals and is unable to go to work for a few days as a result (not quite relevant but it’s just a detail). So now the employees there, including Fred and Nick, aren’t getting paid as no one there knows how to do payroll. It’s been like this for almost…
Whenever I read that someone is very apathetic, the immediate response suggests seeing a professional for depression. However, is it possible that apathy is a symptom of something else? For example, when I was in my late twenties, I just abruptly stopped liking things I used to like from food, drinks, activities, etc. I just changed and no longer liked the things I did previously, and I really don’t know why. It scared me so much. However, slowly, I started finding new things I liked, and although I haven’t been able to return to my previous baseline, I’ve come a LONG way from when I was at my lowest.
quitting but feeling guilty
i am about to leave one of my jobs (i do have other income to hold me over for a while, in the process of multiple interviews) and cannot help but feel so guilty. i’m in a management position and am obviously going to give two weeks notice. i’m paid below average for my position, its not great for my mental health. i genuinely dread everyday. i think i just feel guilty because i know people rely on me – but this is a somewhat large company. i just feel bad for the people directly below. please encourage me to pull the trigger lol
legit wanna die
drunk me thought it was a brilliant idea to call my boss six times, and tell him he’s hot. good lord
Anybody have any good stories about an employee getting laid-off/fired where it resulted in disaster? What's the biggest disaster that really hurt the company because they laid-off/fired someone? Not because an employee took revenge (lawsuit, sabotage, etc), but because they walked away, and because they weren't there, things went wrong. Maybe a piece of equipment wasn't getting maintained properly. Maybe they lost a huge sale. Maybe they failed some type of audit. What are your best stories?
rarely get breaks at my current job
My job is irritating me so much when it comes to breaks but because everyone else puts up with it with no complaints I know if I start kicking a fuss I'll just be fired. My workplace needs at 24/7 supervision, meaning if I am in the building by myself (which is most of my shifts) I cannot have a break. Also my manager kept putting me on the late shifts that finish at 11pm and then putting me on the early shifts that start at 7am…. I now refuse to do those which has put me on thin ice hence why I'm biting my tongue about not getting breaks. btw I live in the UK, I don't know about other countries but in the UK it only counts as a break if it's fully interrupted, can be planned for (so not just 'oh wow 20 minutes without customers') and…
Red Flags When Job Hunting
Based on personal observations. Interview Rounds The more rounds the less serious/motivated is the company. Interview rounds include pre-screening calls with HR. The higher the number of rounds, the worst the culture is.**At the Interview.**Is the manager bombarding you with technical questions, like an inquisition? Are they asking technical questions that are in no way and manner specified in your resume? Is the attitude antagonistic as if trying to find excuses not to hire you? Trust your gut and the vibes and walk out unapologetically. Response Time If you apply for a job and only hear back with an interview invitation after a month, it is concerning. Well into the 21st century, such delays in communication indicate an antiquated and stuffy work environment where sending an email becomes a feat of quantum mechanics. Not a gigantic red flag…if you are desperate for a paycheck…but something to be mindful about. The…
I’ve been working since I was 19. I am 28 now, and I was laid off for the first time in 2021. Then I was fired for the first time in 2022. Let me explain… The first job in question laid off most of its employees because the company was moving locations. So, I was one of many who was laid off. The second job offered me a permanent position after the 90-day trial period ended. I countered with a $2/hr increase and was fired on the spot (hotheaded boss who somehow felt offended that I even countered although I always do and have never received this sort of response). Both of these jobs lasted less than a year. Anyway, now I’m unemployed. Have been for a year. I’ve submitted at least a hundred applications, even to small stores nearby, and I cannot secure a job. I feel like my…
Maybe throw in a wrongful termination as well.
