I love getting paid, working hard. I love not being lazy. I am a pro-worker. Anyone who thinks that working is bad is a retardant and a dumb my

Yearly merit increase was a joke
So to preface I work remotely for a rather big Healthcare company. We get yearly raises and this years felt like “the office pizza party” I've been working for the company for almost 3 years now. In this time I have switched departments 3 times, been crosstrained in 4 different departments and have been made a “trainer” With the department switching I was told that there was no difference in pay – my official work title has not changed. I have taken on 3x the work since I was originally hired and it is just overwhelming at times. Last year I wad awarded with a .53 raise which at the time was great. It put me a decent bit over the local entry level wage and I was happy. I did not qualify for the cost of living increase that was given out due to not being at the company…
Okay, so what are our options?
I've been following this sub off and on for a long time. I've been researching various career fields. Finding personal reviews, opinions, anecdotes. Some people are lucky, and speak highly of a certain field. Yet, unequivocally, further research into that field reveals the truth that, for the majority, pretty much everything sucks and it's a whole lot of luck. I was expecting this sub to have actual helpful info, not just be a vent sub for every disgruntled worker. Which is fine, but does anyone know of a place like that? Info on careers that are more likely to treat you better, advice and tips on how to read company websites/reviews/job posts/interview behavior to help you read between the lines on if they're actually shit or not. Info on companies that actually identify them and aren't unhelpfully vague, info on how to conduct yourself at your shit job/potentially shit career…
Over a decade ago I had an interview at some kind of upscale city oceanfront venue, I got dressed up wrote up my resume, caught public transport to that side of town.. just to find out it was a mass interview of about 50 people. This ultra arrogant general manager starts with a spiel about how great he is and how great it is to work for him and how he needs the best team that will do anything it takes… I was pretty enraged Then he made everyone stand up one by one and talk about themselves, their work experience and why they should be hired over everyone else. I really loved the film hotrod at the time and stood up, said “My name is Alex and I like to party” Everyone laughed but the GM who was pissed, he demanded to know my full name and recruitment agency,…
a raise doesn’t feel like a raise
How much does (percentage wise) a raise actually feel like a raise? I live in South East Asia, the current minimum wage (according to the law anyway) is equivalent to 330 USD/300 EUR per month. I get paid (after taxes, etc) 515 USD/467 EUR per month. Say I get a 5% raise, I now get 539 USD/490 EUR. While I got 24 USD/23 EUR more, it still feels like it's not a raise with all prices rising. My wage is at a lower tier (I am salaried). I discussed about the upcoming annual raise with a co-worker who makes more (but not by a lot), he also said that if he only gets 2% or 5% raise, the company shouldn't bother since the raise feels like he didn't get a raise.
Fed Up and Tired.
Both corporate and small business are soul sucking bottomless pits. There's no bright future for anybody unless you're born with a silver spoon in your mouth. Hard work doesn't pay jack, they only reward you with even more work, scolding, whip cracking and a sometimes a feeble 'thank you'. Bosses mock and berate you at the slightest fail, managers mock and berate you at the slightest fail, even coworkers mock and berate you at the slightest fail. What's the point of all this? Why they fucking force feed you with the rat-race BS since you were born? How is this any healthy? How is this a “goal to achieve”? Besides, why going off-grid is illegal? It's fucking stupid and infuriating. I just hope COVID-20 hit us again and wipe us out from the planet.
I am on my third job in a year since coming back form paternity leave, and I am pretty sure I am going to lose my current job soon, if I don't rage quit first. I've had to take multiple days off for mental health – completely debilitating panic attacks happening in slow-motion, – and everyone seems to just hate me now. I used to excel at people relationships – both in person and digital – but now I am receiving so much verbal abuse. My last employer called me a “liar” before firing me that day. I keep hearing I have an “attitude problem” but I'm just tired and unenthusiastic. I'm still good at what I do, but it seems like I have lost the ability to alleviating management's anxiety, and as we know that's the only thing that actually matters. I am paying daycare to give me the…
Are IT unions a thing?
In light of the strives for workers' rights unions are making like those involved in UPS and Hollywood negotiations, I'm curious. Are IT unions a thing? Sorry if this isn't the right subreddit.
Please don’t work for free.
So I am saying this because I never did unpaid internships or volunteer work because I didn't want to work for free. But when people take unpaid internships, it displaces entry level employees. Being paid in experience isn't good for your fellow employees. I have trouble finding work because I didn't volunteer or intern in college. I figured I would get the job training on whatever entry level job I got. There are fewer entry level jobs because of unpaid internships.
Quit my job, got no response
I sent my resignation e-mail on a Wednesday, and got zero response. No phone call, no text, no email, nothing. Nada. Saturday rolls around and I see on the app I have that tells me my shifts that I have a rostered shift for that afternoon. I call my workplace and tell my boss I'll be unable to work. I asked if he got my email and he said yes. I was so confused why I got no response, but hey, thats fine I suppose. In total, I got one Automated email a week and a half later telling me to hand my uniform in and a link to a questionnaire thing about why I quit. My workplace was pretty professional until it came to resignation.
