If anyone in here uses instacart, doordash, uber , etc. Yall should go take a peak into their respective subreddits. They're all paying less than ever. $4 for shopping for 1-3 customers, $2.25 to deliver your food on doordash, I got paid .87 cents the other day to drive 5 miles on uber eats. Just figured I'd share about how the gig economy is essentially collapsing under the greed.
Month: July 2023
I am in shock , life has been tough already with my sickness and together with chemo I am unable to work , but we still get help form my insurance . But my wife really needed this , and suddenly the company decided they did not need a designer anymore and fired her knowing her personal situation, fuck companies that think of you as a number and not a human being , hope they burn to ashes and can never recover financially . Hope she finds something soon but the market is though , at least shell accompany me to the hospital a bit more in the meantime , after everything she is just an amazing person. Hopefully a company will see that soon But yeah fk these soulless companies
Violating My Right to Discuss Wages?
I’ve been a stay at home homeschooling mom of 3 for 14 years but it’s gotten to the point where my husbands income can’t support our family anymore. I decided on the quickest path to the most money but as the enrollment deadline approaches… I just can’t. I was going to work on a 2 yr cyber security degree that would bring in an estimated yearly income of 72-76,000 a year. The thing is …I want to make a difference. To help people and contribute. I can’t imagine my future as just another cog in the capitalist machine. I’m torn between practicality and idealism. Any ideas what degree I could go for that would actually enable me to fight capitalism instead of contribute to it?
Want to be antiwork
Hi I want to be antiwork But I also have to buy a car How do you keep your credit score up
Look, I am aware that this subreddit has existed since its inception and have been well aware of scummy business practices that seem to go unnoticed. Recently has been my one year anniversary of working for a fast food company that remains nameless. In the recent months, my pay has increased, thanks to the UK minimum wage increasing a few months ago. However, out of spite, the company I work for has decreased everyone's hours, whilst expecting food to be made at the same rate and quality with decreased complaints. This, obviously is absurd and in no way logical from any angle. Because of the decreased hours, I am now earning less than before the minimum wage increase and have been for the past few months. After a few months of this, I had decided it isn't worth the money or effort to work for a company that clearly does…
Some context, I work in the public sector so the company is unable to purchase booze but allows for individuals to buy for their subordinates. I find this practice to be a bit uncomfortable. Also everyone is completely rude to me (I work in IT). Am I a jerk to not attend? I really can't stand 90% of them and would rather drown…..
I wanted to see more of this happening and more people fed up with working conditions. Happy for their drivers getting some better working conditions out of the strike, though, but I think this could have been a tipping point.
My part time job just went up in flames
I’m a minor and was working in fast food. This was my second job, one that paid more than my first, which was what caught my eye. Immediately starting I knew tips weren’t actively accepted, which I was fine with, but we still often received tips from generous customers. Well this tips thing which had become my normal in the last few months blew up in my face today. To preface, the whole store was out of whack as members from our sister location were there and other members were away. Anyway, as I went to ask my manager to distribute tips as always and a not-so-nice assistant manager from the sister location decided she would put her foot down about our tips. She told me she would still give me my tip today, but today would be the last of it. So I took my tip and I left…
