Not sure if this is the right place to post, but what's with the volunteer organizations being so selective? I've gotten rejected as a volunteer and other places make you go through an application process asking for references etc, then some of them even require a certain number of hours and if you need to leave early for something, you need to ask your “group leader” aka boss.

50/60s: So, what are you gonna do when you get back? CG: Umm I don’t really know. A lot of people I know are just getting random Master’s degrees they don’t need just to be able to stay in school. 50/60s: What?! That doesn’t make sense. CG: Yeah, no one can find a job, so they just stay in school. Idk how the 50/60s responded to CG, nor anything else not included above. But what a fucked up system we live in where it is better to accumulate unending debt and be a forever-student than to participate in society like damn near every previous generation. (I’m on mobile, sorry if the format is off-putting.)
Our insane boss thinks we need to start clocking in on time and I mean to the minute. He has noticed some people arriving when their shift starts. So he's requiring us to start coming in to work 5 minutes before our shift starts. For example I've walked in at 9:03 and it takes me a few minutes to clock in. We have a 5 minute grace period before and after clock in. Unfortunately I won't get compensated for the 5 extra mins. Is this even legal?
