Your thoughts on my job situation?
I work at a company that has six people. The CEO, The CEO's fiance, the CEO's brother and 3 others. This employer does not offer insurance, 401K, or any sort of benefit beyond 1 week of PTO. I've been here 2 years. I get paid 25.50 an hour. Title is “Creative Director”. 40 hours a week. Full WFH (used to be in an office). I think my title is inflated so the CEO can tell people he has a Creative Director. I can only work this job because of my wife's insurance. I use my own camera gear (around 7k worth). To “make up” for no benefits he pushes this “company culture” thing and does Top Golf once a month. They love to push this idea that we have this awesome “team”. There are 6 people. It feels like brainwashing to make me believe we have 100 employees and are…
Employees Are the New Customers
So I am a residential electrician with 4.5 years of experience(much more than some guys i currently work with) and I just switched over to a new company back in October of 2022. Switching companies was no easy task as the new company does things much different than my last shop. About a month ago, I received a text from my boss saying “We unfortunately don't have much work for you in the near future. I'll let you know when things change.” I am not the newest employee at the company and certainly not the first to go in a matter of “not enough work”. I am the only employee that constantly isn't on the schedule for weeks at a time. I have been scheduled 5 days in the last calendar month and wondering why. As I sit in numerous job boards during the day, I see that my company…
Literally bottom of the bottom, no awards, no contest wins, no extracurriculars, and both have dry ass personalities. Our stats get published publicly in the company (it’s sales) so that’s how I know. Furthermore, their education is completely irrelevant to the job, and one of them just graduated uni and has barely worked for the company (5 years experience with far more qualified education backgrounds. We’d only surpass them if we worked our ass off for commission — meanwhile, they can sit on their ass all day and will always get an amazing base salary. I have come to realize that promotions can literally have NOTHING to do with how well you can perform. Absolutely fucking nothing. If you get a promotion, I’m assuming nothing about your ability from a meritocratic standpoint — absolutely nothing. Fuck corporate bureaucracy.
I used to shower at night. I've switched to morning showering solely because I don't have the energy after work. I work as a cna in training at a nursing home, so I don't even have the hard job yet – though sometimes cnas let us help out with the more engaging (I'm not going to use the word “fun” but I'll take operating a hoyer lift over walking 3 halls with empty trash and fully stocked gloves and wipes pretending to do things because like every boss, ours claims there is tons of stuff to do when there is actually none. There are 4 aides for 3 hallways. It does not take all 4 of us to make the beds and keep the trash empty in 8 hours) I get stoned the moment I begin driving home, and before I go in, because if I don't I am guaranteed…
