Boss always makes me stay late, what do I do?

I live in ABQ New Mexico, manager calls herself a socialist but constantly over delivers out of some misguided “integrity” that she has in the past said I don't have any of. I'm supposed to get off at 730, but around 6 she always starts a big project. Rearranging displays, back stocking, clean the entire store. Issue is the company has a policy that two employees must be present at all times. How do I tell her I'm leaving at my scheduled time? It's there a legal protection for not being required to stay late? Edit: hourly retail position

This is how a drug addict thinks

“Former Home Depot CEO Bob Nardelli [said] that current economic policies aren't putting America on the path to success… Nardelli suggested that, when American businesses struggle, everyday citizens feel the impact. 'Corporate America is struggling,' Nardelli said, squarely pointing the finger at President Biden's policies… …'the first day of this administration when they attacked the petroleum industry and…gave away our energy independence I think it's the biggest issue creating inflation when you talk about grain and transportation of the products.'”

What do you think of this chart?

I feel people are often confused about class. And most think they are middle class. This is my attempt to make it easy to tell. With two simple questions. What do you think? Obvs it needs spruced up.

Got in trouble for taking sick leave for COVID

So in my workplace we get 3 paid sick days a leave. I took one about 7 months ago. Then two weeks later tried to take another one on a Friday but was told it would be unpaid. No idea why, but the HR person was immediately confrontational when I said I couldn't come in and viewed it with suspicion. So then now, 6-7 months later, I take another sick day. It's a Monday. Then two weeks later, I'm incredibly sick all weekend. I message my team to let them know I might be unable to come in, that was fine. But on the Monday, I still feel terrible, have to message HR to get the day off. I get told that it seems like there's a pattern forming, and that we'd have to have a talk about it. They're immediately very passive aggressive and there's the not so veiled…

Positive environmental impact of remote work does not get enough attention

These corporations are all about “environment” but they force you to go to office for no reason so that they can control you better and their property investments don't become worthless. So you burn fuel, use extra A/C eat out, etc. Another example of hypocrisy.

Results of boiling over

Recently I posted in here about being at a tipping point with my position. Reaching my boiling point : antiwork (reddit.com) I was able to get my points across to who I felt needed to be aware of the issues, which was my primary concern with my position. I was able to negotiate a substantial raise. I was able to negotiate permanent WFH with the opportunity should I want it to move into a higher “senior management” position. All of that was able to help me achieve a longer-term family goal as well and allow us to relocate across country while both staying employed. It's just sad that change is so hard to generate without having to take such risks. My boss, who I have a good relationship with, is aware of some of my past challenges in life and without him knowing I have no issues simply picking up…

How Does Anyone Live Like This?

I am a Canadian. I left high school 1 year ago and have spent most of my time studying at a university. Now summer has rolled around and I have to work full-time to pay for my education, possibly even rent. I have worked a proper job as a butcher/deli worker for about 2 weeks after jumping between jobs and I don't understand how most people live this way. When I was younger I did a good amount of charity work. I always came home after long hours with my legs sore but with a sense of pride and always slept amazingly afterwards. However, when I work the same long hours for a company I feel horrible. My legs and feet hurt so much that It feels like I am standing on hot coals for the entire shift and sometimes days after. The noise of the workplace always causes constant…

Promoted at Work…being set up for failure.

So I work in a large warehouse for a global grocery company. We have rolled out a new software to run all Warehouse Operations. It's been live for 2 weeks and has been a complete disaster. Forced 12 hour shifts for everyone, Missing pallets, stores not receiving products, and injuries due to the warehouse being too crowded as the brought people in from other warehouses nationally to help with the rollout and learn the new system. Anyway, they created a 7 new positions as “leads” which is under Supervisiors and Managers. I applied and got one of the roles. I think the upper management created these roles so that when shit went wrong, which they knew it would, all the unprepareness and losses could be blamed on us. We are all in “training” but know one really knows how to operate the new system. We were all scheduled for training…
