Some statistics
HALF of Americans make under $30,000/year which is almost 25% under the average COL. In the United States. They make only 3/4ths of what they need to SURVIVE. Two in every three people you come across make under $50,000. The cost of raising a family is $90,000; The average household income is $70,000. The average person has $40,000 in high interest credit card and non-default student loan debt alone, which is almost 2x the amount of their retirement savings. One in every eight people you see are on a government assistance program, otherwise they would literally die from poverty. People aged 45-75 have 90% of the wealth in the country, they make up less than half the population. The top 10% of income earners, have had income growth 6x the rate of the rest of the US over the last 40 years. 50% of Americans have had income levels decrease…
My coworker has a chronic illness that causes her pain and some discomfort daily. She was out of work for awhile but she's back now. She consistently is incompetent at work tasks she can, and should know how to do that do not relate to her disability Like locking up properly and telling customers the right info. This is the second time i've opened and she's left me MOUNTAINS of work that was due the previous night and is now late because she was in pain, which i do not doubt or discredit, but it's not my responsibility to clean up after her and accomadate her. I'm not her boss, im just a coworker. How can i bring this up to our boss/ her because this isn't something i can deal w. I don't even know if she was truly suffering or just is incompetent and didn't wanna deal w…
I’m dead, I submitted a complaint to BBB about ADP and rounding up and it got back to my corporate HR. If I’m doing my math right I should be getting 8.5 hours for one day and it’s only logging it at 8.25 since it rounds to the nearest 15 minute. HR emailed me to let me know they are looking into it but they believe it’s rounding correctly. How much are we betting I’m losing my job now?
I used to be happy here, until it grew too big and most of my work friends have moved on to other companies. I am good at what I do (digital marketing), but because I do not have the right educational background (no MBA, degree in radiology), and probably also because I'm a woman of color from a small Asian country, I didn't get past mid-level manager. I helped grow the revenue size of this company to where it is now but I feel so unappreciated because I'm not as assertive and talkative as the others (I'm introverted). I am tired. I want to quit but the only thing keeping me here is the fear that I lose my health insurance, especially for my son (I am a single mom and the ex husband is unemployed so cannot financially support our son) I want to start my own consultancy business…
It’s more like living until paycheck runs out and suffer until the next one comes in just to live until it runs out again. This stupid cycle is terrible. I’m tired of depending on leftovers from the rich to support myself. Most days I hope society will collapse and I can either die or be a hermit in the woods foraging, honestly that option seems much less stressful.
Like telling them don’t hire me if you don’t accept that I… don’t talk about my private life. AT ALL! will not do overtime I come here to work and get paid nothing else. We will not be friends. I will not participate in After Works, drinks, whatever outside of my scheduled work
First of all, this is more of a rant to get it off my chest so sorry in advance. To start off, let me state that this is mostly based off my knowledge of Belize district, as I haven't had as much conversation with people from the other districts as I have my own. So as with any poorly developed country, most “average” people here live in poverty, or very close to it. With the minimum wage pre-covid being only $3.30bzd(1.65usd) most of us that grew up in that time were unable to afford going to university, hell, a good portion of the citizens couldn't even afford going to highschool as pre-2010 government didn't do squat if jobs were under-paying (I'd know as my mother worked 50 hours a week and only made 150bzd) This has gotten a bit better now as the government has finally started shaping up somewhat…
I am new this group and was chatting with my friend about and curiously discussed posting her case here for further guidance. The company where my friend works (a lady with 2 kids below 5 years of age) has progressively gone worse over the last 2-3 years. The HR and management has gone downhill and a lot of new faces in management resulting in big upheaval. My friend was also moved to a new role and she is not making a lot and has not been promoted or received a raise in 2+ years even though she is is constantly rated amongst the highest performing employees. The management in the company has gone so bad that all decisions are being routed by one HR manager who is new in the company and calling all shots. My friend has 2 kids below the age of 5, so when the kids are…
Recently my boss started asking us to come in 15 minutes early on Mondays for a “motivational” session with our department. He indicated it was optional but wanted us to try to come. I went to the first one and it was fine, he had some silly quote he shared and we discussed our plans to have a great week. Standard fare. It ended, however, in him asking us to bow our heads to pray. Some of my department members asked if they could ask for specific requests in the prayer. They all prayed while I stood there, eyes open and frozen in place. I couldn’t believe that it was happening. Out of a department of about 10 people, 8 are self-identified Christians. One person is agnostic. I am an atheist. However I don’t go around advertising it as I am clearly “other.” My company is under 50 employees and…
