So my partner recently left his restaurant management position to go to a different restaurant. His quality of life at the old place was absolutely terrible and the new place will offer more flexibility. He had explained multiple times before leaving what his issues were and was always told they would be fixed, and they never were so he left. He gave a proper notice and everything. They have now shorted his last check almost $1500 because he “didn’t actually accrue enough time” to go on the vacation that we went on over a month ago. He was told when he was hired that the job came with two weeks paid vacation, and nothing was ever stated to him about time limits or anything of that nature. He was also there for a full year so I’m not sure how they can be claiming he didn’t accrue enough time. I…
Month: August 2023
So, the company I work for is currently negotiating with our “union” for a new contract. The problem is we, as workers, don't have a union per se, just some student council equivalent the company set up. This week we got an exciting, new proposal from the company and our representative basically can't tell us any of the relevant details. You know, the hush-hush ubersecret stuff like “how much is the pay increase?” or “what percent of profit sharing is being implemented?” uncommon things like that. I don't know which is more insulting, the audacity of these bourgeoisie diamond-studded lightbright chasers to actually put this deal out in the open unironically or that they expect us to be dumb enough to fall for it. Idid speak-up and ask how we are supposed to vote without knowing any of the specifics discussed, like the exact pay raises and such, and the…

Sitting next to chronic sniffler
The coworker I sit next to is super cool, but wow. ALWAYS SNIFFLING. Every two seconds (not an exaggeration), there is a small “sniff sniff”. I've always listened to music at work but now I literally cannot take my headphones out because I just hear the sniff sniff. Even with the headphones I can hear it sometimes. I feel bad being so annoyed because she is so nice but I can't take it. I hate my open floor office environment and miss my cubicle at my old job lol. I miss a remote environment even more. Lol
After I called out
Well the day didn't go as I hoped it would it also did not go bad at all. I started the day off with getting lunch. After that I went to the library to work on the following electronics, math, and reading. I used chatgpt to get some ideas of things I could do to better my life/situation. To see if I can make a living doing things I like doing. I had got some ideas and started working towards them. I did not get very far. I was becoming distracted by different things. My song choice that I was listening to while working and the I felt overwhelmed by the gap I had to cross to get to where I wanted to go. Unfortunately I discovered I probably can't accomplish everything I need to accomplish in a week. So I can't quit my job today :(. So after discovering…
Hello everyone, I'm very concerned about something that happened yesterday at my workplace and I don't know how to proceed. Yesterday there was a severe weather alert for high temperatures in my area (heat index over 115 degrees), and the A/C units couldn't keep up (they even started shooting hot air from outside at one point). A lot of us were feeling dizzy. We have people with diabetes, people with asthma and people who are pregnant who weren't feeling well. However, and even though we have a hybrid schedule, they didn't allow us to go home to finish our workday there, saying that they had engineers on site and “its being worked on” After over two hours of it not being fixed (and the thermostat marking 83-85 degrees inside), our superiors said that “there's no direction from the higher ups saying we are allowed to go home” but that we…
People like to think disability is some rare thing that happens to others, but the chance of being born with one is pretty significant. I personally was diagnosed with autism even though none of my parents or family members had it, and it is preventing me from living a normal life or being able to find a job. I feel like a burden on society. So many people are born with health issues and mental disorders. It is very much a gamble if you are healthy or not. I have seen absolutely healthy parents who gave their child love and care only for the child to grow up as an evil psychopath Life success is mostly based on luck because there is no guarantee you will even be born healthy
I Can’t Wait!
So, I got released. I've experienced so much frustration and deterioration of health. I can never get that year and a half back in my life that I exchanged for some money that is less valuable today than it was yesturday. As I spend this day working on my former employer's soon to be returned monitor that flashes a black screen every few seconds, I can't help but think how nice it is going to be to return this “perk” they gave me. I'd like to thank my former employer for the years they took off my life, for the opportunity to tackle more work than I could reasonably accomplish, for aggressively and consistently changing my job duties and setting unrealistic deadlines and for failing to allow me to speak up and tell them that I could not do it all. It could have been a win win instead. I'd…
My current boss is out of control
I haven’t been happy at my job for a while now. Our relationship changed at work after I disclosed to them that I was going through the process of becoming a state trooper anyway recently they told me to come back into the office there’s a process that we run where we run an application and it prints, paper material then we take that material to our warehouse, so when I came back, one of the other employees just asked me to run the application and she would just naturally grab the papers that printed out and bring them back because she was always working in the warehouse so yesterday my boss hears that I am running the application And she’s bringing the papers back and thinks that I’m like being lazy or something so she says to me “you have 2 feet what’s wrong with your 2 feet you…
As the title says, before I was hired I made sure to specify on my availability that I was only available for work between the hours of 2pm and midnight. This is bc I have to be up at 5am to get my brother for work, and prepare my little brother for school. I'm the only one with a license so I need enough rest to atleast be able to drive. All of my shifts have a start time, but no end time specified. I'm expected to be staying atleast an hour after 12AM if not an upwards of 2 hrs even though that goes against my previously specified availability. Not rlly sure what to do
