Doctor appointments take away from vacation. The only vacation we get which is “generous” according to HR. Anything over that time is docked from pay. Get sick, suffer.

Unreal Response
This is a sad story. My son was admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of Lymphoma. As he couldn’t call his company, I made the call and talked to his boss. When I told her that he had cancer and was going to be in the hospital. She responded by telling me that it was going to cause issues with him not being here. I think as an after thought, she hoped that he gets better. They didn’t even send him a get well card. True story for you non believers.
Seriously, the only reason we work-the only reason we have a job- is for the money. If we won the lottery we'd go traveling and then come back and work on creative passion project, but not for money. So everytime I hear “we gotta be loyal to the company, they're treating us right” Are they? My company pays me the lowest because they know I won't leave since my commute is so close. My coworker only got a raise because he got offered another job. And if I did leave they wouldn't give two shits after they found a new replacement. Loyalty under the coercion of getting fired is just slavery
I’ve been in the healthcare field for 15 years, and at my current company for about the last decade. Our workloads have increased over time, and I’ve hit the point of overwhelm that I had a emotional meltdown in a recent meeting with my boss, and now I’m worried I’ll lose my job for being honest about not being paid enough for the amount of stress I’m under, and that our benefits are terrible. I told her that it’s hard to do my job when I’m always worried about money, the planet being on fire, etc. She expressed concern about my mental state and said I should probably take a leave, but I can’t afford to, because I’d be paid even less. I did take a couple days off to cool off and try to relax, but now I’m worried I’ll be let go for finally being honest about what’s…
The folks fighting for $15 per hour is grossly underestimating how low wages really are today. That’s right $52 per hour should be the actual minimum wage. A living wage is a fantasy in this society for the vast majority of people.
I do IT stuff but I just want an easy 9-5 remote help desk job making ok money and everything currently is just through recruiters and contract with no guarantee of permanent hire. And the pay is usually crap ($18-20/hr) basically the same as 8 years ago when I started this.
I work for a large tech company. Like many of the others, they've started the “return to office,” drums some months back. My classification was “virtual,” as I was hired onto a team that was always virtual, regardless of the pandemic. When they started the RTO talk they targeted people/teams that had previously been in the office but went remote due to the pandemic. But we all suspected they'd come for everyone. Sure enough this week they started having conversations with people designated as “virtual” about coming into the office. I'm 1.5-2 hours away and took this job because it was virtual, which allowed me to move to the country and find a more relaxing balance in life. I can take my dogs out multiple times a day, each lunch outside with them, and not deal with traffic as I had been in the past decade. In any case, I…
Are they allowed to dock his pay?
Long story short my husband is a salaried employee, they were wanting him to lie on his logbook, as well as make him drive a truck that literally you had to push the brakes to the floor to get it to stop every time. It was very dangerous. Anyways he quit the middle of the day last Wednesday after getting a better job offer. When my husband got his last check deposited they docked him for 3 days pay. Is this allowed as a salaried employee? We are in Texas if that matters
