I work for a small school as their part time studio manager, office assistant and social media content manager – it’s a lot for only 4 hours a day – plus I have to babysit kids for one of those hours. The boss has fallen 2 months behind in rent (that’s $12k plus 30% for being in arrears). She’s ditching the property and moving to a new place around the corner, which is offering a month rent free. She’s asking all members to pay a years worth of tuition in advance to help her financially: and astoundingly a lot of the families have paid up. Is this in the realm of normal biz practice? I am shocked. What do y’all think?
Month: August 2023
I just want to rant and this could land in a lot of places but I picked antiwork because I believe this is another bad effect of capitalism and corporate greed. First off, if you are looking on me to hate on outsourced talent, you can bugger off, that is not what this is about. My work is outsourcing like crazy. These are temp contractors with various degrees of experience. When they backfill roles in my country, the seats are being filled with work visa folks from the country we are outsourcing to. I’ve had some issues with a couple of the new folks, they are causing messes in ways that I know I need to escalate on. The added pressure of needing to tell on someone who… if they get fired… would be deported within 60 days without work. It’s just so gross. If I get fired, so what?…
My friend works in a factory manufacturing car parts. This guy started working there and has basically been creepy and harassing a few female employees and at least two male employees. He's a blowhard who is always talking about his friendship with the GM and “their time in the Marines.” My friend looked him up and found out he had served time for burglary, assault and identity theft. She linked the details of the case and he actually forced his way into his ex girlfriends apartment, held his ex girlfriend at gun point, said he wanted her back, prevented her from leaving and going to work for 2 days- attempted to tie her up (she talked him out of it) and eventually stole her wallet and bought airline tickets to another country. (He was caught before that flight). Their group leader was sent a copy of this and he supposedly…
Unemployment (CANADA)
I recently abandoned my job due to high levels of stress and suicidal thoughts. (Was there just under 3 months.) The work environment was too stressful for me to handle due to management. I just ghosted work I didnt say I quit or anything. Do I stand any chance at getting unemployment if I don't find a job?
Here’s Why Anti Work Is A Thing
The misery has a purpose.
So I recently figured out something, don't know if it's been said here or not. I have a salaried position with fairly reasonable bosses so far. I work 4 days a week, with a total of 45 hours scheduled. Each day I have a 1 hour lunch(which is counted as”not work”), so by their reckoning I have 41 hours in a work week. That's all fine. On 2 of the days, the next guy comes in an hour before I leave. I have no problem with this guy, he's a decent fellow. But the job we do, doesn't need 2 ppl at the same time, so the whole time he's here I'm just thinking, “I could leave, and nothing would be harmed.” So I started doing that. For the past 2 months I've been only working 43 hours(39) per week and no one has said anything yet. And I'm terrified…
Just s reminder: you don’t matter.
Gonna start out this post with the question; “Am I the asshole?” Started a new job 6 months ago and was promoted fairly quickly. A handful of my coworkers have been complaining to my boss and supervisor that my work is shotty. Both my boss and supervisor are confused because I've been getting repeat clients, clients recommending me, and good reviews. The morale in the office has been absolutely shot on my end when I'm left alone with these coworkers. The complaints from them got so bad that my boss is now asking me to forward all of mt work to him at the end of the week so he can double check it. While usually that isn't an issue for me, during the week I have to deal with passive and aggressive comments leading up to it by my coworkers. My supervisor has my back and has been vouching…
