What’s your personal experience/relationship (to the degree you want to be open) with work and money? I quit the whole rat race. Wholesale. But my family is still financially involved though my parents are almost retired. They fear me a lot because they think my views are too extreme. I think they and everyone other than a select few are being constantly extorted and that life has gotten more expensive with products being worse quality and less diverse due to forcing makers out of the market and cornering damn near all resources. I also see things super simply in that if I live in a community it is actually my personal responsibility (see: able to respond) to share everything I have and my skill set with the community (and if there is someone or something harming me or others to seek support from the community and neighboring communities). Super simple.…

With so many people struggling to find careers and looking for work options that don’t suck the life out of them. If you had to rank the things that are most important to you when it comes to work, given any positive and negative experiences in the past, what would you focus on when it comes to your work life goals out of the following options: Pay (hourly wage/salary) Benefits (healthcare, discounts, retirement) Flexibility (hours, PTO, sick days) Location (commute, ability to work remote) Fulfillment (do you enjoy what you do, are the people you work with enjoyable to be around)
Personal car for work, hit a deer.
Hey guys Texas resident here, I use my personal car for work sometimes and on this occasion, I hit a deer. I get reimbursed for mileage, I was on the clock, and now I'm being told I'm solely responsible for this through my personal insurance. What the heck do I need to do?
Working Solo.
Work in a team of two, other member of my team has gone on holiday so head office have asked me to work from there instead of our remote office for the rest of the week. Instead of my 15 minute commute to my quiet office where I can listen to my audiobook between calls, I have an 90 minute journey sat staring at a bumper each way, to go into a porta-cabin office full of people who like to “banter” and chat, where I’m much less productive. Manager said they were worried I wouldn’t get enough support working solo. I checked the figures and I had done 1:3.5 quotes coming out of both offices this week, even working solo with a 3 hour meeting yesterday. Tried to argue it, failed. Just wanted to vent.
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8FQ9P3j/ Hey y’all!! Sorry I don’t know if I can post this due to the subreddits rules but I just seriously thought this was a great resource! Just saw this tiktok of a woman who created a website called Blacklist where workers (specifically marginalized workers) can share their stories from different companies and decide if it’s a good place to work! This is a great way to start calling out those discriminatory work places and I think if used efficiently will create a huge wave in the work space!
I had an argument with my manager about their unfair treatment toward a coworker who had quit because she couldn't take the abuse any longer, as well as his behavior when he intentionally brings up politics at work making many staff uncomfortable constantly. He was creating a bad work environment, and had recently gotten contacted by HR about a complaint I filed against him, which pissed him off needless to say Of course they didn't do anything about it or looked into it, just gave him notice that a complaint was filed and to not have anymore, but he took it personally to the extreme. Today in the morning as my car was parked in back, he had taken a hammer to one of my car windows. Fortunately, there was a contract vendor (stock truck driver) who happened to record him doing so once they saw him starting to approach…
I work with businesses owners, some of them are small people struggling to keep the lights on, and a few of them are mega-moguls who do every evil trick they can to screw over their workers and customers. My company has the whole “do the right thing” bullshit core values, but management has told me to go with what the client wants, like not paying everything due to the workers (mostly young people). I see every single penny that moves through these businesses and it makes me sick sometimes. There are people out there who actually don't do anything except take from people who have nothing. I've quit 2 jobs before for bad ethics from management, and it's about to be #3. This system is broken and there are a small number of legitimately evil people who screw over 1000's of others so they can take $20 from their poorest…
We are in a heat advisory in Northern Wisconsin. We aren't a group of people known for heat tolerance but we are currently breaking records. Of course our non-air conditioned factory is still running. All they are doing is extending our breaks by 5 minutes. Fuck this. Edit to add that shorts are not allowed, so are tank tops. We also have to wear smocks over top of our t-shirts as well as hard hats and gloves.
Hey everyone, I’ve been offered severance but have emailed HR to increase it given that I did not take the entire paternity. I have to sign the separation document within 7 days of the layoff (layoff was yesterday). My fear is that they won’t reply to my email. Is there anything in should keep in mind?
Hi f 22 here, recently started a part time job at Starbucks. I was asked if I wanted to pick up another shift last week, so I did, but I wasn’t able to clock in due to me not actually being on the schedule. I told my shift leader and two other higher up managers about it. They all reassured me that they will fix it and that I will still get paid for my time. Unfortunately I did not. I just received my paycheck last night & sure enough I didn’t get paid for that shift. I’m upset & obviously want to say something but I’m not sure how to go about it since I already spoken to three different people about it.
