I work in a team environment. I recently joined this team in a higher position on the team, and I have a lot of experience in this position at other companies. There is a senior team leader on the team who works full time remote in a different state. It’s difficult for everyone on the team that she works remote- especially for me who is supposed to be working very closely with her. It’s also difficult because, as a result, everyone on the team spends a lot of time on the phone with her. She has been on the team for almost a decade. She was working in the office not remote before her and her family relocated out of state and she left the team/company. Then when she was laid off from her other job in that state she was rehired on my team/company, and she lived out of…
Month: August 2023
Last night our customer reached out to us via email, after we had all left the office for the day, about an urgent change. I usually don’t read my email if I get it after work, but I saw urgent and the customer, and gave it a look. Some problem with the fixture we shipped a few months ago and they needed this change QUICK (approved any OT work without needing prior approval for the quote). This morning we met at 10 am, to discuss the quote and the changes. Now I’m new to the field and only been doing it for 1.25 years here, so I didn’t have the majority of info that the customer wanted so I messaged my boss around 9:15, basically saying “hey this meeting is at 10, I’m unable to provide to all the info he will need, what’s the plan” because I had not…
My company recently went through a reorg and ruined our extremely well running team. Not only did they get rid of 2 of 5 people, but they replaced the 2 spots with untrained idiots. I work in biopharma in compliance, everything we do is tracked in a software where it shows who has the record and what stage in the process it's in. Well my new director doesn't seem to have eyes, brains, or access to the software as I have been getting more idiotic teams messages and emails. For example, today I got an email asking the status of a review. If she looked at the software, it would have shown her: 1. It's out of QA control; 2. It's still in investigation stage; 3. This was already communicated via email the night before. My other boss is so technically lacking she calls me when she doesn't know how…
TIFU are corporate shill bootlickers
So on the 'TIFU' subreddit I merely made a comment, which I was forced to delete, about how you should absolutely job hop if given the opportunity since the system is built in a way that it doesn't really reward loyalty or hard work, as attested by many in this community. Then some dorks commented on how 'unethical' it is, as if it's ethical to squeezy a person down on his luck and to never reward proper behavior when showing up for work. So yes please, absolutely job hop and take as many sick leaves as you can, especially in big corporations. What is your take on all of this?

Currently working another eight hour shift by myself in a very busy department of a very popular local grocery store. We usually have three or four people working my department. One of my coworkers had today off, another had to leave early for an appointment, and one had her last day two weeks ago. Despite her giving two MONTHS notice and there being several current employees interested in switching to my department, store management has made no effort to fill the spot and is leaving my department manager and the rest of us in the dark. I'm doing absolutely everything I can to make the department not look terrible when I close, but all I ever hear the next day is how things weren't deep blocked and what else needed to get done. They honestly expect me to be able to do the job of three people for the pay…
Non-US resident and a freelancer here btw. So, I work in the freelance world as a social media manager. I've recently worked with a huge company — probably the biggest I've ever worked with. I was so happy and the job was quite good. I also know how much I'm supposed to get : around 2,1k for the two weeks (sounds big but France takes a huge part of it, and I live in a pretty expensive city because it was easier to found a job this way). When the mission ended, I sent my bill to the agency. Then, I had to wait for an answer which was weird because there were pretty quick on average. When I got the answer on the matter of “Did you receive my bill?”, they said yes. Then, I had to ask by myself when will I get paid. And then, they pulled…
Where I live it has been a custom to not actually ask for salary expectation before company/organization was sure of which candidate they wanted. But this year I have encountered two interviewers who became very aggressive when trying to approach the question in an interview. Like almost shouting, but at least reising their voice and presisering me to tell them my current salary. The first time I thought about pulling my application. I didn’t, Because they wrote me they weren’t interested on my way back home. I am thinking on pulling my application after the recent interview, Because quite frankly it felt like being interrogated/intimidation techniques.
Master synonyms for boss
