That's the delemia I have now. I work a night audit job at a hotel. Up until recently we were allowed to relax in the back and do whatever we wanted. Watch movies, play games, school work, etc. Whatever we wanted, as long as the work got done. Yesterday I was told we could no longer be in the back and had to stand out at the desk all day. The kicker is we can't use our phones, the computers are blocked, can't do any type of school work at desk, basically nothing. We have to stand at the desk and wait for someone to come along. It wouldn't be an issue if we were actually busy, but this job is frequently dead and no guest interaction for 3-5+ hours at a time. Hey all. I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I've seen more than a few people on here who are pretty knowledgeable about labor laws. My daughter (16) works in fast food. She called in sick today and said that they are asking for a doctor's note, otherwise she isn't allowed to return for 48 hours. The claim is that this is because she's handling food. Unfortunately, we can't afford to get her to the doctor every time she has a stomach bug, or a cold, or what have you. I've only worked in food service once, and then only for a month. They didn't have this policy there (Dunkin), and that was while mask mandates and what not were still in effect, so if anything I'd feel that was the time to be that strict. The average Joe has 8 hour shifts, 5 days a week , right? In my case-6 hour shifts, 6 days a week. Let's say i was making 1000$ a month, how much more should i or anyone be compensated for their work realistically?
In May I asked my boss, GM of Southern Air about reviews and raises because I had found out the new hires were making more than my coworkers (to include my husband) he was rude (I mean honestly, I probably was too) telling me he will do reviews and raises when he’s ready to, I said it was unfair that the new hires are coming in at a higher rate of pay and those currently working for the company can’t even get a review and pay raise. Should I lie about another job offer?
So I'm currently on the second round of job offer negotiation at a company. They've been giving me a pretty low offer for the role and I've been trying to push it further. My basis for the number I've been giving them is that I have former colleagues at the same position at the same company who get that pay. Now, the hiring officer told me the only way I could get a higher offer is if I send them another job offer. They advised me to cover confidential details. My problem now is that I don't have any pending offers. I do have a job offer letter from a year ago I could use though. Should I take the risk and send that instead?
For context, I work for a small business with 3 employees(including me). We recently got back from a 2-day “Company Retreat” this past weekend. It was a “First Annual” trip so, It was short and nothing really over the top. Our boss put the 5 of us (Us + Herself and her husband) in a very nice Airbnb and we employees paid for nothing beyond the gas to travel to the house. She was even considerate enough to stock the house with food/drinks based on what we liked. She also provided Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner along with a Team Building Activity. it seems like government or university roles are incredibly slow to respond. i check off all their boxes yet it’s going on a week and recruiter tells me there has been no response. other roles i’ve gotten an offer inside a week.

be in IT lots of jobs posting no one is actually hiring employer posts job. employer: hey ((me)) please apply you would be a great fit (asking multiple times over the course of six months) employer does not post salary range do quick googling to find median range and put it in my application was told I was excluded for asking to much insisted there was no range offered so I had to do my own research was told salary range was about half of fair market value and that’s why they don’t post it Some of us want to work we just want to work for a fare fucking wage. This cycle never ends.
