Is this even legal? I went full-time in a company after contracting for them and they pay on the 15th of each month. I deferred my start date to the 17th July because otherwise my first paycheck would be 6 weeks in (or so I was told). Now, upon receiving my first paycheck I was dismayed to find half the amount I'm owed. I got some vague explanation about payment in arrears and how that half I'm missing would be carried forward and paid when I leave, or something to that effect. This is the only line in my contract that mentions this: 'Your salary will be XXX per annum payable in equal monthly instalments in arrears on or before the 15th, day of each month for the complete previous month. Payment will be made by direct credit transfer to a bank or building society account nominated by you.' Am…

Should I ask for gratuity?
I'm currently working for a company that usually gets rich clients. The bosses are big assholes and they don't give an f about the clients or the job, just trying to get the last dime out of them. When I started working here, all my clients were having trouble with the company and were deeply annoyed/stressed. But I tried to finish their projects with sympathy and integrity, informing them of each step. About the job itself, I will just say that the projects are life-changing. Now I am finally done with this shithole and waiting for my paycheck to leave. Should I email my clients and politely ask for a gratuity? Will it work? (I'm heavily underpaid) if my bosses find out, the only thing they can do is fire me I just don't want to seem like a beggar to the clients.
Is USDAW a good union to be in?
I’ve been working for a large retail company in the UK for just about a month now, before I worked in the security industry for 4~ years and never joined a security union purely cos I never lasted longer than 6 or so months, due to incompetent management and the poor working conditions. But now I’m contemplating renewing my old membership with USDAW (Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers) but my mom says it’s pointless cos unions are useless (in time she told me it was because of her past experience with the unions and it taking 3 or so years for a promised pay rise). She says I could just go to HR but I don’t trust any sort of HR for the sole reason of “they don’t care about you, all they see is a number”, I would rather have some form of representation for if anything…
Boss Gaslighting Me on Every Email
Long story short I work in a call center. Applied to be a mortgage intern for a company after graduating with bachelors with a validated assurance that I will be mentored by a senior mortgage banker who will teach me while I study for my own NMLS license. When asked what starting salary would be satisfiable and I replied with a humble 19-20/hr (in this economy) which the interviewer said they could match. Ended up working as a call center associate with 15/hr pay with no training or any of the aforementioned provisions. My boss seems more focused on transfers than the actual rate of success and gaslights me by demonstrating to the whole department how low my transfer rates are in his emails and constantly commenting on irrelevant things like attire and me calling off work for medical reasons. Although I was not satisfied that the job position I…
I actually contribute to society, but I’m genuinely curious if this sub-reddit/movement as a whole is satire or only against specific working conditions deemed inhumane? Are you against ALL work in general, and if so, how do you pay for basic accommodations (if you aren’t still living in your mom’s basement) and how do you not expect society to instantly collapse and turn into anarchy if no one maintained it?
PI behavioral assessment
I have been with the company for about 1 year and 6 months. Today they have sent me an email asking me to complete this assessment to help with hiring in the future. I don't agree with this practice and I hate that I am being asked to participate. I know I can't get jobs that require this assessment and now I'm being forced to potentially make it more difficult for people like me. Fml. I hate this. Rant/
I’ve been with my current company for just over a year, and it’s been a rough ride. From the moment I stepped foot into the company I felt I made a mistake, and have been struggling ever since. My boss came back from vacation yesterday and was right back at it with her micromanaging, and general nastiness while I was in a in person meeting with a client. I decided then and there I was done and let her know I was handing my two weeks in. Well, that has not gone well… She has unleashed a entire email pretty much dragging me on how I should have been written up numerous times, everyone complains about me, and she cannot do a good job on her work because of me. Unbeknownst to me, this is not information she’s ever shared with me prior to this. I’m unsure how to proceed…
Companies are ridding themselves of WFH
I'm currently at work sick because I used my meager on being sick. But my manager was talking to another employee who is requesting time off for an emergency medical procedure. I hate it here.
