I’m so burnt out but I’m in debt and can’t afford to not work

For context, I work at a high growth small technology company on the leadership team. I make $120,000 a year and it allows me to live comfortably and make progress on my 15k credit card debt that I accumulated before I actually made a good salary. I’m so burnt out, the pressure is just too much and I’d give anything to just work at a little boutique on the street in my town 2 days a week and have an actual life again. I can’t afford to not have this job and fall further into debt but it’s killing me. I’m not sure what to do, it’s been 3 years and I’m at the end of my rope. I hate that all the years I only made $11 an hour forced me into debt and that I’m in this position. The way we do work & life in America is…

Why isn’t there a fertility strike?

With people all over the world struggling more and more to make ends meet, or just being sick to work too much and live too little, why don’t we go on a fertility strike? Stop making future slaves to the system until we get better quality of life. If fertility dips enough, that should make people at the top think…

I done did it

No, I didn't quit yet. I informed them of the days off I will be taking soon. I did not ask! I did not explain why. *We should not have to ask to use our paid time off * I learned that HERE.

Anyone else extremely disheartened by the hostility of people “planning” the next tiktok “strike”?

I think we can all agree in this sub that we would like to do something about the economic climate, but it’s really tiring to keep seeing these “strike” dates pop up and then you ask them about the details and the plans and you get attacked with virtue signaling. I asked about plans for people who are medication dependent because I am on a medication that keeps me from going blind and I was met with “you think I don’t know not everyone can participate?” I’ve seen marginalized and disabled people getting bullied for asking valid questions that anyone who knows anything about organizing would probably be excited to answer. People who are worried about losing their jobs for nothing because of a lack of a plan are met with “it’s just one day. Use pto.” Like they don’t now the circumstances of truly struggling people. And people asking…

Studies on working less hours?

Does anyone have studies on how basically overworked employees produce far inferior work than well rested employees. I need peer reviewed material that is decently if not well vetted. I’m talking cutting from 50-60+ hours a week down to 30-40. Looking to present to senior management soon and am looking to drop a bombshell because team performance has been down month after month and SM has been hounding me about it. I’m looking to show how since they cut a shift and everyone had to pick up that slack. But that also meant that now no one can take sick days (we work 365/24-7) because there’s only 4 team members now. Vacations are a nightmare as people end up having to switch from day shift to nights and back to days. And on top of everything they added a bunch of new procedures and work duties. Everything aside, this job…

Help, company trying to get me to do something illegal…

The licence plate flew off my truck last week. Mentioned it to my boss. His boss said to run the truck anyway and just “play stupid” if I got pulled over, as the registration is still fine. I go online and the truck can be towed and my licence will be penalized if I get busted. This is so ironic considering they made me take one of my weekends to do a bunch of safety courses regarding following traffic laws. (everyone had to).

Burger King gave candy to a worker who never called in sick. The internet gave $400k

Burger King cook and cashier Kevin Ford was happy to receive a small goody bag from management as a reward for never calling in sick. But people on the internet were less thrilled. They believed Ford deserved more — over $400,000 more. Last May, Ford was given a coffee cup, a movie ticket, some candy and few other small items for working over 20 years at Burger King without ever using a sick day, meaning he never took time off unexpectedly. “I was happy to get this because I know not everyone gets something,” said Ford, who works at the Burger King in Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. Ford, a big believer in appreciating small gestures in life, showed off the goody bag on TikTok. The video went viral, partly because people were outraged on his behalf. While many on social media said they respected Ford's work ethic…
