My wife tells me that her boss had a meeting with the team and said one of the girls would be back tomorrow, and yes, they’ve spoken to her about her attendance problems. Did the boss cross the line telling them that?
Month: August 2023
I work for a company that does technical work for the government. I got a new supervisor in my department and I tried to be just a good employee. I can't really get into what I do, but it's super technical and would be helpful to have a confirmed written guidance about what's expected. The problem is there has never been one for the 3 years I've been in this job. The government end is supposed to have a process laid out that's replicable and easy to follow. They've never actually done that though. So I get told I'm needed for a staffing meeting on a Monday about 3 weeks ago. I get handed a performance improvement plan. On it are things like “will use the approved and supplied templates to create deliverables” and “refrain from making unprofessional comments about outside entities (other government offices.)” It's a 60 day thing…
Love my job but hate the cost of living.
I work in mental health, my job is pretty much just to make connections with people who are struggling and check up on them and be their buddy both in hospital and when they go home. Someone actually pays me to do this, I love it! And it's beneficial to patients and to the healthcare system!!! But I can't live on this income. So I work 7 days a week to make up the amount I need (just about). I can still barely make ends meet, but I at least feel connected to my work. I'm sad that working 7 days a week still leaves me with my head just above the water. Really wish this government run healthcare job could pay it's employees a living wage. I don't need to be rich, I just want to be able to make my car payments on time and maybe be able…

Apologies in advance for the crypticness. I'm enraged and I feel like less is more right now and I just need to get this off my chest. I've been at the same company for 6 years. I started out in a rotational program for early hires and found a role within the company after the program was over (that I was told was my only option. The original option they told me I shouldn't do even though that's what I wanted to do.). I stuck out that role for about 3 years and decided that I couldn't handle the sexism, 60+ hour weeks, and the workload. So I left and went to go back to a team I worked for before to get away from it all. I loved the hiring manager and was excited to work for them again. When I got back to that team, the person who…
Well I am going to lose my job tomorrow
Backstory: Just out of college (35 years old). I wanted to better my life and my families life. So I got an accounting degree. So it started 5 weeks ago. I wanted to help. Show that I care about the company and it’s success so I asked for more work. And they happily gave it to me. After that it my work took a hit I got to much. I fell behind. My work started to go to shit. We had a meeting about me falling behind and I was told it’s was better if next time I say something. I agreed and felt foolish. I should have said something. They told me they are taking work away. (Probably for the best). But They left me with nothing. They gave me work I have never done. Yes it was the simplest thing they could find but it wasn’t what they…

Osha and restaurants
I was wondering if OSHA comes to restaurants and if this would be a valid reason to call. I work at a sports bar, started about a month ago, and it’s so disgusting it’s unreal. Our soda and ice machines, soda guns at the bar, all sinks in the bar and the rails where we hold the liquor are CAKED in black mold and pink slime. I brought a water to my table and it had chunks of mold in it from the machine, I was so embarrassed. Nobody cleans them and when this was brought up they brushed it off and told me I was doing more than anyone else and all I did was wipe it out after i was cut. This is also the only drinking water they offer staff. Saturday night I was on hour 15 of my shift and I asked for a water bottle…
Tomorrow first thing in the morning I'll call my manager. I've been going back and forth with HR to get them to pay my pat leave. The company have a policy where they'll meet up to 75% of my salary. Government gives 70%, company matches 5%, everything is good. Unless the HR rep doesn't know basic mathematics and says that 70% is bigger than 75% without explanation. So this is the 4th time they put me in a bad spot and now it messes with my family's revenue. Hope they're ready to pay or happy ti find a replacement.
