Long story short, I ended up In a position where the company Laid me off, However, my Manager then made up a story of how I decided “leave” on my own “while still employed” and now I can't claim my unemployment insurance due to this. (Note, I didn't sign any paperwork that had this exact writing, even though they heavy pressured me to do so) What should I do here? Am I really screwed till I find another job?

Need Advice – Sticky Situation
urgently need help for the following situation: I manage a team of 6 in a mid sized manufacturing company and the new hire is now causing big problems within the team. Unfortunately our own HR department is pretty incompetent (none of them has much experience much less education in the field). I’ve had multiple conversations about performance with employee B and gave out a verbal warning WITH HR present. Only hours later B sent a complaint email to HR, saying I won’t train her, help her and be rude , unfriendly etc. I know from reliable source that HR agreed to her complaint and told her to go on and don’t let me „pull her down“. Her entire thing is made up and I feel backstabbed and betrayed by my HR! How do I go about this situation?? Since B is obviously incapable of dealing with constructive criticism, I can’t…
Teenager (not me) working minimum wage job told to attend a mandatory meeting that will not be paid. I’m pretty sure this is not legal and the time needs to be paid since it is related to her job (training) and not voluntary. No one is being paid for this meeting. How should she address the situation with her employer without being put on the shit list? Besides this hiccup, it’s been a pretty decent first job and employees are treated well.
Staff camp?
As the title says, my job is organising a staff camp/retreat for us. It will be considered professional learning, so we will still be working during the day and then at night …. ? Hanging around a campfire singing songs? I’d rather not. I’m on a salary job, I’m not getting paid overtime rates or given allowances for hanging around these people for 2-3 nights extra than I already do. I wrote “no” for the staying overnight section and I know there will be whispers about it. I will be staying at a hotel nearby, as the camping grounds are around an hour and a half away from me by car. I just needed to type this all out and have other people agree that this is absolutely ridiculous. What do I say if (when) execs ask me what’s going on and why I’m not participating? The whole thing is…
I don't know… the government… maybe
At my previous company, I was the All-Star on my team. People in our department would come to me with all sorts of questions or problems, often impressed by how much I knew, and could problem solve for. It's great, because I have a lot of advanced business skills like databases, SQL, experience in programming and automation. However, I was laid off for “unprecedented times” and pushed for further information from anyone I could. Turns out the reason for the layoff was simply because our stock was beginning to look less and less favorable as the world is collapsing around us. People are struggling to afford groceries, no one wants to buy homes anymore so there's very little our business was really able to grow upon from previous years, and any sort of stagnation in the business is considered unacceptable, to the managers and executives…. So of course, no matter…
2 class worker system at MVPL
I am an hourly worker at the Mountain View Public Library (MVPL), where I have been working for many years. I love my job and I am proud to serve the community, but I am also frustrated by the unfair treatment that I and my fellow hourly workers face every day. The MVPL relies on hourly workers to keep the library running, yet denies us basic benefits such as healthcare, PTO, and retirement matching. These benefits are essential for our well-being and security, especially during a pandemic. Without them, we are exposed to health risks, financial hardships, and stress. Despite the Library admitting we are understaffed, hourly workers are not allowed to exceed a total cap of hours per year. This means that despite being highly qualified and willing to work more, we aren't allowed to work more hours, even when the library administration agrees that we are short…
I work in the produce department in a big chain grocery store and the supervisor texted everyone in the produce department to meet on their day off with very short notice. In the text message, the supervisor did not even mention what the meeting was for. The next day, most of the workers showed up on time as the supervisor had requested. However, we started the meeting 40 minutes delayed, waiting for last worker to show up. Mind you, all the workers are being paid minimum wage, so even being asked to show up to a meeting with such short notice is asking for too much. The supervisor then stared us all down and asked us why we were called in. Nobody had a sweet clue. He then proceeded to say that we were doing a shit job at maintaining the department. At that moment, I realized that I shouldn't…
Would you really have to announce it if it were true? Gives me bad vibes so I will steer clear. Anyone else seen this?
