Ok so I stumbled upon this sub a few weeks ago and after hearing about the treatment my brother gets at work i first thought of posting something about it here, maybe to see if there's something that can be done about it. My brother (26M) is working as a waiter at an Italian restaurant in Portugal, he got a degree in med school but quit after a traumatic event, he came back to live with his parents and me for the past year and recently he found this job. Already the first day he got shit on by his boss for making a beginner mistake and had to work overtime, this went on every day. Everyday he worked overtime without extra pay. Somedays he wouldnt even have time to eat lunch and would starve for the rest of his shift. The worse part about this job is his arrogant…

First time posting here, but I figured what the hell since this was the cherry on top for me. I work in IT and the company I am at has been sinking since I started 11 months ago. I recieved ZERO training and had to figure out everything for myself. That being said, often times I ask questions because I simply do not know what to do, after endlessly trying to fix something with no luck. Long story short, I was on a Zoom call with another colleague (which just so happens to be my bosses son). He did not know I could hear him, but he couldn't hear me. We were troubleshooting something for a client. Well he called his dad and started mocking me and showing frustration towards me. He was making me sound like a moron basically. My dream job offered me a bad salary I was thrilled when my dream company accepted me. However, they offered me a base pay of 80% my current wage. Considering all benefits and bonuses I get 91.3% of my current wage. I'm very bummed and feeling low. I told them on the spot I would rather not receive a wage below my current salary. I'm torn if I made the right decision or not as I hate my current job but I feel pay is way below my experience. Now HR wants to check but I feel it will look bad if I end up accepting original offer. They can even retract it.

I live in Texas. My company provides us with an allotted amount of PTO each year, and the employee handbook states that employees can use PTO days and “…allows the employee to decide how to use them.”. With an asterisk saying that PTO includes the use for all health things, domestic abuse, reports, etc etc. But if I ever call in sick, I am told I am not allowed to “Bank PTO” and I HAVE to use it for the time i was sick. Which doesn't make sense, because if I want to miss a day of pay earlier in the year so I can use my PTO on a week long vacation later then I should be able to. I'm unsure how to address the situation. I don't want to bring up the employee handbook because we all bend and break rules, so I don't want to bring down…

my friend is a waitress at a restaurant in NJ and works 9 hour shifts with no meals or breaks. was just wondering if this was legal or not? thanks

I really needed money and work so I went back to a previous job. Everything seemed fine. None of what I was promised was delivered though. Plenty of hours? Idk who thinks a max of 15 a week is plenty. And they said they had to offer me a dollar less an hour than what I was making before instead of giving me my previous pay again. On top of that the store manager tries do some shady things (making us do things that require a licensed individual when that licensed individual is not in store). I'm gonna have to find a new job or a second job but they want my schedule wide open. So that's gonna be a fun conversation. Idk what happened but it wasn't this bad when I left. It wasn't great but this is kinda ridiculous.
