Just received an email from the CEO telling all employees the following: “As you all know, we had a 44% reduction in staff due to a round of layoffs. The remaining employees we need to show up to keep things moving. No longer can I allow or afford people to schedule time off as they want. Going forward if you need time off it will have to be approved by me and the answer will be NO 99.9% of the time. You May schedule time off without pay if you absolutely need time off” I have 2/3 of my annual vacation unused. This is a very seasonal business and we are heading into our slow months from September – January. It makes no sense why he would tighten it up now. Dude lays off half the staff then decides he won’t pay out vacation anymore. Wtf

NBA Social Media employee goes rogue
Kind of a rant here, but I need to vent I live in PA (20 minutes outside Philly), and our office is in New Jersey. When I was hired, the position was fully remote (November 2020). One of the other employees was promoted to Director of Operations, and since then has had me come to the office 2 days a week. I don't really mind this, as it is nice to get out of the house twice a week, but next week, our employee who goes to the office everyday (and lives 5 min away from the office) is on vacation. My DOP has told me I need to be at the office everyday next week in case we get deliveries to the office (IT Service provider). I asked if I would be getting paid an extra something, seeing as I already have to fill up gas once a week…
I work in an office that is located within a level 3 evacuation zone, the fire is making national news (Gray Fire Spokane), and has destroyed hundreds of structures and caused at least one fatality. I have also been evacuated from my home with my children since Friday, so I'm writing this from a shelter and not sure if it's even worth coming into work today. Today there was an email sent out to all us telling us to disregard the evacuations and that we are required to show up for work. I would be willing to provide proof and more info to a local news service, but I'm not sure how to contact them. This just seems insanely dangerous and like they don't care about the safety of their employees, I think people should know. Company Info: Name: System Transport Type: Trucking company Where: Cheney, WA They are currently…
Stickler Boss
Well, I’m just over 1 year and a few months at my job. I already haven’t liked it much. But to make matters worse we’ve gone through so many changes since I got hired, I’m now on my 3rd manager and I can already say that I hate the type of manager she is. Had her introduction in our team meeting last week. She sent out an email early this morning and basically stated the “rules” and bro..fuck this. It’s the most polite work nazi type shit. The first half of the email was that “here’s me I can’t wait to work with you let’s all be positive” type of shit followed by the second half laying out basically threatening rules to follow with the most micromanaged type of replies. Reminds me of the power trip guys I used to deal with in the Navy all the time. It’s time…
Just wanted to share because I thought this sub would appreciate how absolutely fucking ridiculous this is. My department is laying off some of us next week, including myself. But thank god they’re giving us one last “department social event.” Really makes me feel better about losing everything. You can’t pay my salary, but thanks for the turkey sandwich as a goodbye? Edit: none of us are supposed to know about the layoffs, we are supposed to be blindsided by HR. I only know because I was warned. We do not know this is a “goodbye”. Who on earth thought this was a good idea?
my boss micromanages me through teams
every time i step away from my computer for more than 10 minutes i’m asked about why i’m offline. i have ibs and those of you who also do know sometimes that means going to the bathroom can be more of a 10-15 or even more minute thing than a 5 minute thing. i work from home and this morning my manager once again asked me where i was even though i had finished up catching up on emails and all my tasks before going and only being gone for 15 minutes. i finally snapped and decided to be honest and say i have stomach issues and i’m in the bathroom, tmi but whatever clearly there are no boundaries here. they then say i have to be clocking in and out whenever this happens. i literally get paid like $23 an hour. i know i’m not well spoken and this…
I’m just curious if anyone feels like that would make a difference at all in their lives. I’m reading about credit cards and late fees and payday loans so that made me wonder about getting paid each day. The bank would verify the hours worked each day and pay out what they would get maybe the next day, and then once the real paycheck comes the bank just gets that money and cross checks it with the payouts. The idea is that instead of getting late fees or needing a payday loan when your finances are on the edge, you already have the money in the bank that you earned that day and have lower/no fee expenses at the end of the month. Also that means the company doesn’t get a free 2 week loan off you. Idk maybe it wouldn’t work since getting a big chunk can be nice…
So, me and a bunch of people worked for CNX on other projects and due to the company taking a nosedive in being needed, got shunted over to mailChimps project. We're doing some basic, barebones training with a pretty out-classed trainer and have to take an exam that if we fail, we have to take again and if we don't pass we literally lose the job. I had a permanent, full-time position locked in at the other project, guaranteed with their 'steady state' system, that I lost AFTER agreeing to it to be put on this project, and I honestly feel like we're not being set up to succeed. Anyone hired on to MailChimp via Concentrix recently have any experience with this/advice on the exam? It's like… 90 questions, 2 hour limit, and our job depends on it. Note: it's in two weeks and we haven't even seen the project…
Happened years ago and on mobile. How can a temp agency see my Google drive account? About 10 years ago, they called me last minute, I went there and they asked for my resume. Which I didn't have with me bc I went straight after the call. She says it's no problem, calls someone and says something like: “yeah, it's **, I have someone at my desk, but her resume is on her Google drive..uhu *click uhu types.aah, got it..thanks” “We found it Olivia, already placed it in your file! We'll call when we found something for you!” I got home and deleted everything on my drive and changed password. I didn't know that temp agencies could access my account? Happened in Belgium btw
