Does your boss use fear to keep you working

What do I mean? Fear of layoffs. Fear of falling into poverty. Fear of homelessness. Fear of starvation. That’s what I see in this society today. To keep the plebeians in line keep pumping the fear into the culture. You lose that job working 50 hours a week and you are paid for only 40 hours and then you fall into the dire situation. This is pure and unadulterated exploitation. Communism isn’t the solution. But if this continues we are going to become a feudal society in which vast wealth is hoarded by a tiny Uberwealthy. AI is going to complete this transformation. Artificial intelligence is the ultimate destroyer of civil society by guaranteeing the power of the ultra wealthy.

Company decided to not give me an anual wage review, as I’ve been promoted last December

I live in the UK and last December I've gotten a promotion that was WAY overdue, and got a 10% payraise to accompany it; I went from 30k to 33k and am therefor sitting on the national avarage. I live alone with my two cats and with the entire rent crisis going on, my rent has increased twice of the past year from £700 to £850 a month for a one bed apartment that's less that 300sq/ft. In September we always get adjusted wages for inflations, which so far my company has been really trying it's best to accomodate the lower wages first so I commend them on that, but because I got promoted in December I am now being skipped over the anual wage reviews. Do you feel bad for “ratting” someone out at work?

So, I was doing a few hours overtime on Saturday. Half the day. One of the people who is meant to be doing their normal, full day did not come in while I was there. There was another staff member there so he can collaborate if needed. Today my manager asked how Saturday went, I said ok. He then asked what time I’d come in and who was there, then what time this worker came in. As it was a direct question, I was honest and said they weren’t there while I was, but said they were coming in. He was surprised by this and is now getting them to check if this person did log in.

Being a good employee gets you no where

So I (25m) have been at this job for around 2 months now. I've settled in well and I'm a very productive team member. I'm in everyday on time. I do all my work each day as I have slight autism and can't sit still so I'm productive. Anyway. Today I'm at work and I finish all my tasks so far today. My team leader has just come to me and asked me to do some bs task that has nothing to do with my job. Everything is fine as far as my supervisor is concerned. Why do higher ups want everyone to do more then what their job requires? He's very nitpicky and wants me to constantly be doing something even though I'm well ahead in work load. (Currently having a toliet break as I write this)

Feelin guilty about taking the whole doctors note off

Long story short, injured my arm stupidly and needed 4 stitches. The problem is it’s right near the crook of my elbow (really was an accident.) and the NP said don’t use this arm real hard for 4 days. Problem is I throw rail switches and conduct cars and or swing a sledge hammer all day every day. Texted foreman, said I planned on taking Monday and Tuesday and he said come back when released and I can use sick time. I’m debating putting in the full 4 days or taking 2 as planned. It’s really not that bad of a cut. Thoughts on this? I know I do have anxiety and I also know my job is kinda macho man persona about sick time. I’ve used 8 hours of it in 2 years

I was fired from work for something completely embarrassing. I was fired for something extremely embarrassing.

Let's say you're at work and they push lunch without asking, which shouldn't be allowed. Cut to, you got six inches of hot dog stuffed down your throat and no one gives a shit. They say I got fired for “poor performance”. You sure it wasn't 'cause after the thing that happened to me, no one could look at me without dying laughing?

Two years ago they fired my ex-colleagues to replace them with workers in Hyderabad, and three months ago they fired them again to replace them with AI

I quit working for this company in September 2020. The job included investment and market data analysis in the language of your expertise – we had people who spoke Russian, Finnish, Mandarin, French, Polish, Turkish, Japanese etc. The company is located in a very small country in Europe and 90% of the workers were living there on a work visa. Many people were leaving behind countries with higher salaries, better economies and political conditions in exchange for the chance to live in a Schengen country with this visa. 10 months into the WFH policy due to COVID (around Feb 2021), they fired the entire team in one day as they “had workers in the Indian office that could do our jobs by using Google translate”. Every one was shocked. These were employees who now would have 3 months maximum to find another form of employment that would be willing to…
