Article about CEO doing interviews
My first question is “why a CEO is doing interviews?? Don't you has more important things to do or don't you trust the responsible for hirings?”
William Faulkner:
“It's a shame that the only thing a man can do for eight hours a day is work. He can't eat for eight hours; he can't drink for eight hours; he can't make love for eight hours. The only thing a man can do for eight hours is work.”
It was my first day on the job. I had reservations about accepting the job in the first place, but I didn't fancy being homeless so I didn't have much choice. My boss at this new job was a huge tool, he had a very high opinion of himself. Classic gym bro, he had the straightest edges on his hairline and beard, only wore tight shirts, flirted with every girl he saw, the works. On my first day, he told me that he wants me to avoid certain foods at lunchtime. His argument was certain foods made you tired, so for optimal performance in the afternoon he wanted his employees to eat healthy foods. He mentioned the food court in the mall having some good places to eat. He said “I recommend sushi or subway, but only brown rice sushi or rye bread subs with no sauce. I don't want…

https://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/news/2023/08/17/aging-office-buildings-conversions-residential.html These arent little either, the wells Fargo building is in the heart of uptown and very tall with underground parking, walking distance to cafes and restaurants, but not a grocery store. This building has a really nice lonny and just had a bunch of renovations, has sky bridge access to other buildings, a cafe inside and used to habe a drs office in it. Hopefully another healthcare network will rent space in it and we can get a small bodega/grocer there.. it could be a really special experiment.
A friend asked me to post his lament about working in the optical field. When I first worked at target optical, the store was closed three days out of the week, prior to me working at that location. When I started to manage the store, I wondered how do you stay open seven days a week? We had a conference call about the topic that stated in fact that for every day a store wasn’t open, we got fined $1000. Due to staffing issues, I was working 50 hours a week and close to seven days a week, but I was told how to do it. When the staff quit for somewhere else, then the store could reduce their hours by the margins that I had previously recommended. The first time when I had offered the idea, they had shot it down. After many further frustrations, I quit only to…
I don't know where to post this, but I've been contemplating whether or not my employer/manager took advantage of my time in order to boost sales, and what to “reasonably” do about it after the fact. I work minimum wage at a candy shop. My manager, we'll call her Ellen, comes off as super sweet and very down to earth. We have good moments together, we have awkwardly bad ones, but overall, I never really thought much of her outside of her being a really good boss. Until..recently. Ellen's been pushing me and other sales associates to beat our previous year's numbers. It's obvious why- she wants us to outperform from last year to show our growth and success as a company. She was reasonable and fair. Push the add ons, give out recommendations, talk up sales, you know, reasonable things for us to do so we can beat last…
Can someone explain?
So I had a job interview and they called me back to say I got the job and that they were gonna call me again in a few days. 2 weeks later they didn’t call so I called them then they said they don’t know who I am. They called me again and they said they had slightly stronger candidates.. what happened?
