My surgery was a very personal procedure that I wouldn’t want anyone knowing about (as a young woman who wasn’t ready to be a three letter word starting and ending with the letter M, if you catch my drift). I filed a complaint with HR, they said it had “been handled” (after giving me zero update, I had to ask myself). I was told I “didn’t get to know” what was going on, which yes, I know is procedure. It’s nice to know manager’s confidentiality was being protected. The same manager then refused to speak or look at me after I reported it, and eventually I put in my notice because everybody found out. So my aunt works at a daycare and has been there for like 20 something years. I was talking to her today and she said she spent the day cleaning out her room at work. I asked why and she said that they are getting new floors put in next weekend so all the employees have to help empty everything out of the daycare this week, after hours and come in on Labor Day to put it all back, all of this will be unpaid. I told her she should definitely be getting paid for it and I would never work for free. She responded with they (the employees) all think so too and originally the owners were going to hire a crew to do it. So, a few months ago, I left my job because of several reasons. One of those reasons was I got Bronchitis because there was mold growing in the ceiling of my office. Also, the company did not offer any sort of retirement fund, pay raise, title change, or flexible hours. Basically, my job gave me health and mental issues. I want to know if I’m not the only one who experienced something like this.

I haven’t been in the office unless necessary (which has been around 5-10 times a year) since 2020. This saves me $115 a month in a parking pass, gas, wear and tear on my car, and not to mention the stress of the commute. Further, our offices have basically non working air conditioning and it’s supposed to be in the mid to high 90’s all week. Due to my health conditions my boss only asked that I come in one day a week. Fucking why? It’s going to be 92 degrees tomorrow, my office is the size of a closet, I have no a/c, I’ll have to get up earlier, meaning I won’t be as sharp and I’ll get home later. I’ll be sweating all fucking day when I could just get more done at home in my air conditioned home. Wtf is the point?!

I just got let go from a company I worked at for a little over a year. I just had my annual review where I received my first raise and was told I have PTO which I have not tapped into at all. I receive my paychecks through automatic deposit and generally don't see any hard copy's of my pay stubs. Am I entitled to getting a PTO payout? Should I request hard copys of my pay stubs for unemployment application?

Just in case any Canadians are here and would like to know. The private company Princess Auto is actively holding anti-Union meetings at their Panet location (Winnipeg.) Have been told they have a list of whom they need to fire to stop the staff organizing. Princess Auto is a private company run by second generation Nepo babies Matt and Mark Tallman. They’re afraid of unions because neither of them have the ability to run a company. Head office (which they don’t work out of) has a barber shop, virtual golf, a fancy ass cafeteria and a gym. But when minimum wage goes up you can be sure to hear about labour costs in retail. I have never worked for a company as mismanaged and toxic as Princess Auto. I imagine hundreds of posts like these show up every day, but I've got nothing left to turn to and so I'll join the flood. I'm sick and tired of my job. It's easy work, but its still 40 hour work weeks, with garbage coworkers, sub par pay, and awful scheduling. Because the staff are so shit, we've lost 3 workers since I got hired 2 months ago, and have had 0 potential new employees come in despite many applications I see get sent in. I got hired for late shifts, 3-11's usually. Now they want me working a mix of 3pm-11pm's and suddenly 7am-3pm's as well. So any hope I could have of a normal sleep schedule is all but gone. The job is easy. Hotel reception. Sit on your ass in the backroom until a guest needs something, take 2 minutes to get them set up, go back…
