Also companies: We had the best quarter ever so our managers will get $100,000 bonuses and $50 an hour raises. In other news because of this we are going to have to let off 10,000 people and remove paid overtime as we just can afford it. Also everyone's pay will drop by $10 unless you are the CEO's cousin or a manager. But we will have a mandatory off the clock pizza party, you will be expected to bring your own pizza of course. Also if the word “union” is said or if you speak to OSHA you are fired, we will make up a reason. Thanks for our best quarter ever where we made one trillion dollars in profit that we will spend $0 in tax on. Now I'm going to spend my weekend on one of my 20 yachts while I have all the people on the floor…
Month: August 2023
Hey, don’t do this.
LIKE IM THE CRAZY ONE?????
I have a cushy job at a large global company, with great benefits and all the work life flexibility I could ask for. That being said, I'm feel neutral about my job and it's just a way to get paid. Rather than talk about companies screw the average person over, I wanted to hear from people who actually enjoy their jobs, if there are any on this sub.
Katkin…one horrible place..
I have heard nothing but bad from katkin. Nice working environment is not what they stand for. Selling products with bacteria!! I know people that work there and gosh….even the managers say a bunch of stuff. Spraying NON WATERED DOWN ACID NEAR THE EMPLOYEES AND THE MEAT. No bank holidays. Working on Christmas Day. Not paying people correctly then saying they “can’t be bothered” to fix it. Sacking people if they get hurt at work. Bugs and maggots infestation. And much more. Hiring managers with no experience what so ever?!? Just read about this… For starters I spoke to a previous employee of theirs and he showed me pictures of maggots in their factory in haverhill. I've also heard plenty of rumours from others that have worked their that they never clean their machines out after production and the hygiene manager supposedly told them to not produce for two days…
Basically I got hired to open a new restaurant concept that focused on serving craft beer and craft food. When I got hired, the owner was so impressed with my beer knowledge they asked me to put together their tap list for when they opened. I did this happily, and mistakenly, for free. Did all the training, everyone was excited about opening and then cut to our soft opening. Our restaurant had 2 owners who were brothers. One of these brothers had a girlfriend who was about 20 years younger than him and had made some kind of small investment in the restaurant so she could call herself an “owner”. She would rack up huge tabs and then comp them herself, which is her business, it’s not my money or my restaurant and if that was all she did I wouldn’t have cared. The problem was, she almost always drank…
What is Money?
I work for a large company that offers unlimited sick time but not unlimited PTO. My one coworker was out for a week because her dad was in the hospital. Work says she needs to use PTO and can’t use sick time. Is that right? I couldn’t find any formal policy about what you can use sick time for.
I was once in rehab and got out some months ago after my life seemed to have hit a new low. I got myself together for awhile now but it has been a pain finding a job. Especially given I'm in rural Arkansas. I'm located just above Greenbrier. Recently I got hired! A job finally contacted me and we went over the details for an electronics position. The job is full-time and will pay starting 43k a year, which down here is great and for me personally, would be a 100% turnaround. Given my location and situation it's also the only option, I passed the interviews and accepted the opportunity. I showed up for an orientation and like a ton of bricks they gave me a requirement that they never mentioned on the phone or in my in-person interviews before: They REQUIRE me to go for one day, to their…
One on one shifts
I’m so sick of my job thinking it’s acceptable to have one on one shifts in a busy shop. We keep constantly having to be one on one and it’s even worse when it’s the night shift which we are more likely to be robbed on. I’m sick of the management saying ‘well we have to do it’, no you don’t! You do the rota. I’m so close to just quitting but I need the money to pay rent. Sorry for the rant but I need to get it off my chest. This is all because apparently we have “no hours” to the point where staff are having to take paid absences but still attend work so that we can still have staff in.
