When I've finished a shift at work and I'm zoning out on the bus on my way home, I just want to play my game for 15 minutes. I don't want endless fucking ads about the hustle, and trying to cram in more skills building 24/7

There was an episode of Law & Order where a detective was with his mother in the hospital when called and ordered to a crime scene. Throughout the episode the dying mother comes second, as each time the detective tries to look after her he is forced to deal with work. I learned early when working for a BFH to shut off my phone when I left the office and back on while having breakfast. If was that detective I'd say I had a family emergency and hang up and shut off.

I’m usually a big believer in giving 2 weeks notice, but this Friday was the culmination of a big amount of circumstances to the point I needed to get out ASAP. Over the last year I’d been dealing with escalating verbal abuse, including being called a “fucking p-word,” a “mother fucker,” and just Tuesday of last week being asked if I was a “fucking automaton or can you use your fucking brain.” I was put in the role of manager after working for 6.5 years, as a salesman, asking specifically for a list of my responsibilities and what they expect from a manager. I even had this list written out by them. Turns out of course there were things they didn’t tell me they expected that I didn’t know needed to be done, including overseeing our whole repair department despite that spanning multiple stores. I was a gate attendant at a state park on the weekends. I called off Friday for sickness. My boss told me it was fine but I needed to get a doctors note saying I don’t have covid so I can return to work. I sent him the note that I could come back to work on August 20th. He gave me a schedule on Sunday which in print said that I would be at work at 1PM. Apparently, he had changed the schedule on Wednesday and didn’t tell me. It was my information that the schedule was finalized on Sunday not whenever the boss said so. Cut to me 11AM this morning sitting in church with my family and my phone just blows up with calls from him asking where I was. I told my boss that he told me to be there at 1PM on Sunday. This is…

I applied for the job and got a response to do this online AI interview. A hour later I got a notice I passed they wanted to setup a in person interview. They gave me a couple of times and I selected one. Well it was a hour drive to get there. I arrived early and was sitting in the parking lot and I got a text that the interview was canceled. Next day I got a email they wanted to setup another interview and I replied and said ok and told them about the cancel 10 minutes before. That was the last I heard from them

I got this pesky manager who likes to single out people and make trouble for them. What can I say or do to let the area manager know that this is happening? I'm looking to get in this guys head and really cause serious grief for this fuck boi!

I’m listed On Call at my serving job today (a whole other bullshit thing I don’t want to get into) and the rule is we’re supposed to be called 2 hours prior to our shift. Today the shift starts at 3:30, they tried calling me in at 1:35, which is within two hours. I told them I couldn’t be there (it’s true, I already have movie tickets tonight). Anyway I feel guilty and they’re kind of making me feel guilty because I guess they’ve got a lot of reservations now. But I’ve worked 5 straight nights so I just really want to spend one night with my girlfriend, who works a 9-5. I know this is silly but growing up with conservative parents has me feeling a certain guilt about not going in, especially since I could always need more money.
