The idea that you can save anything in the present time with the cost of living crisis is going to be very difficult. At this point having one job isn’t enough. A person would need to work two to three jobs just to get by. On this subreddit there is so many posts about employers doing things that seem to be geared toward driving people out of those jobs. Or to make their lives miserable. At this point do whatever it takes to keep the jobs. There will be more layoffs and the job market is going to see fewer jobs out there and more competition for those jobs.
Month: August 2023
I’ve worked 45 years and I’m done. I’ve made many other people wealthy. My health is going downhill quickly and I still have ten years to go. This is not the way to live a life.
I had a dream last night that my employer who I left a couple weeks ago was upset that I didn’t express my real feelings with the leadership changes. I remember when we had a mass of employees all of a sudden quit a couple years back and the boss being like I wish we knew they were unhappy. But the thing I keep thinking about is how would expressing our feelings actually do anything? Am I wrong to have not told them? What have you all done? Not sure why I even care since I am not longer employed there but here we are.
All of their “online training” is frivolous hivemind BS with this same kind of vibe, but this last part blew me away. Saying what they really think.
Title. To make a long story short, I work in manufacturing. However, last week just floored me. I was in a Kaizen continuous improvement event- some of these take all day and an entire week or more. I had an automatic reply on my outlook telling people that I’m in this event all day so I will respond to you when I can and thank you for understanding. However, something important didn’t get done. But it was not my direct responsibility. We’ll call him Mike (not real name)- didn’t do his job. There were some hot parts coming in for an assembly that I gave notice to all department heads I needed moved so assembly can build. I released work order ahead of time and organized a plan. Essentially, I DID MY JOB. However, when the plan wasn’t followed through IE Mike did NOT do his job and get the…
Manager on a bizarre power trip…
I work at a grocery store. I’m usually in one department but I only get 4 days/week there, so I do 1 day/week in the helper clerk department, pushing carts, putting returned items back, sweeping, that sort of thing. Due to my position in my main department, I never really see the assistant store manager or speak to her unless I’m doing a helper shift, so I never fully understood until now why the other helper clerks complained about her so much. This lady is on the weirdest power trip I’ve ever witnessed! Yesterday she stops me in the middle of putting items away to come help her clean up some spilled soda and move some broken pallets. It’s chill. She then proceeds to just stand over me like a foot away and watch me silently as I wipe up the soda on the ground by myself. I’m using shitty…

LinkedIn is a Living Nightmare
I know this may not be entirely appropriate for this sub but it seems like the right environment to bring this up. Does anyone else absolutely detest LinkedIn? The fake titles The even faker “business coach” titles The smell of desperation The circle jerking The insane fake smiles in profile pics The motivational speeches that are 99% not true The fake interview stories The fake tech startup stories The “homeless man” posts I could go on all day…take it from here…
