I have been let go of my job a week ago (which I been at for two years). I recently found out that the company has not been paying my dues for three months and I reported it to the union rep (emailed him proof, screenshots, documents, etc.) and he has stopped responding to me / maybe blocked my phone number. My wife told me to stop attempting to contact him as he has shown his intention by ghosting me. What drove me to this suspicion that the union rep is a scab is because my ex co worker sent me a screenshot of a conversation with management he had while he worked with me on a long job and I got paid properly and he got his check shorted. He said he was going to tell the union rep and management was “ok, we will forward it to (insert…

jobscan .. is it good enough to pay for?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHWjfwb0TaE It will take my resume and job description and will see how likely I would be able to pass thorugh ATS (application tracking system) https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/jobscan.co Site jabber has very positive reviews, if not this, then what is the alternative? I am a bit autistic. For me to finish a resume and modify it according to the Job description will take a week at best.. or months on average..
Mandatory Volunteer?
10% of my annual review will be based on whether I did 8 hours of volunteer work through the company's volunteer tracking website. So it isn't something I did on my own, I have to do it as a company employee (wearing the t-shirt and all). And those 8 hours will be paid, but still, being forced to volunteer, even if I am doing something good, feels dirty.
Just got a new job that is probably over before it starts because I wanted to work part time while keeping other job where I have senority/a lot of vacation/401k. Two different managers made clear during interviewing part time is ok. Now if I miss one day of training to work my other job I think I am canned because no one will answer me if it's ok to miss that day or will answer me what days they want me to work. Job is advertised as full time so I guess they bait and switched me. I just don't understand why it makes sense to lie to someone to onboard them. This type of stuff is exactly why I was so afraid to give up my current union job for a non union even tho the non union one is higher paying. I am single but if I had…
Title basically covers it. I'm certified in Microsoft Office, spent the entirety of my high school career helping my school with high priority projects like commercials and graphic design for major events throughout the years, and I've been using computers since I could barely speak. I took accounting and business classes. I have more than enough practical experience to sit in a cubicle doing data entry. But every time I apply for one of these jobs, I rarely get a reply, as I used my foodhandler's certification to build my early job experience and haven't been able to break out of the food industry since. To put it simply, I have all the knowledge and can quickly learn what I lack, but almost none of that reflects well on my resume. I'm tired of throwing my young adult life away working fast food and restaurants. I like cooking, but I…
My job scolded me for calling ems and police for what happened outside the business. Customers came inside a few days ago saying can someone call ems and police. Someone was attacked. We are at a low-income area where some people have their phones stolen. This happens especially for people in the nearby shelters. I called ems and police. The attacker is being held down. EMS is not seeming to come. I call again. Ems arrives. But the police have not. The woman is injured, and the person who attacked is hard to keep there. When police arrive they don’t take the attacker. They take a report and ask if there are any witnesses. Some of the people are talking to the police. It is a few days later. My job got police at the business for statements. The woman wants to press charges on the attacker. The job is…
For context, I work in a hotel with two shops inside that are a part of the hotel, just different department and it’s supposed to be just me and another person on the weekends. This morning when I went to start my shift, I found out I was working alone today due to the person calling in which means that both stores won’t be open today and I am slightly annoyed at how many people have come into my store, point at the store across the hallway then proceed to ask me “Is that shop open today at all?” And I keep telling them it’s closed due to short staffing. I even had one guy with his daughter ask me if I could just close down my entire store with 3 groups of people actively shopping in it so that he could go into the other store for something and…
