Supervisor threatens me with false accusations

You read that right. My supervisor threatened me with false accusations for using the restroom during “restricted hours”. They close off the bathrooms because people use them to hang out. I have no idea what that has to do with me but here we are. I waited my turn to go. It's closed off by the barricades but I'm about to literally pee myself because the person who went before me took a long time. I go through the barricades. No one is in the restroom cleaning it. As I get out my stall to wash my hands, my supervisor confronts me. Which I expected. He tells me that I shouldn't be in the bathroom. I tell him I'm about to pee myself. He says that's no excuse. I ask “What am I supposed to do then?” He says “Talk to the custodians because they have a radio and they'll…

What was Steve Jobs like as a boss?

As a fan of Steve Jobs, I have been looking through some history of stories about Steve and have noticed alot of people commenting of how bad of a boss he was. The movie “Steve Jobs” starring Michael Fassbender, portrays him having difficulties with his ex and also the relationship with his daughter. It was quite sad to see the strained relationship with his daughter was true. But as I was asking, I want to know how was he as a boss? Again, just a person asking and curious to know about his time at Apple and other works.

I find the typical 40-hour work week so boring

I get sick of doing the same shit every single day. I wish it was possible to work 40-hours a week but split it between two different jobs. For example, Monday + Wednesday + Friday you work one job. Then Tuesday + Thursday you work a different job. Theoretically you could do this but you’d be considered part time at both places and probably get nothing for benefits.

Need Advice about an Oral Agreement from my job

I have worked in a construction company for about 6 years, small business, mainly doing drywall commercial and residential, about 7 months ago my boss asked if I would like to learn to do sales said he would make it worth my while with a 15% commission plus my hourly, at first everything went great I won a couple jobs from 5k- to 10k with my commission being 15% of that paid as soon as our contract was signed and awarded to the company, Well I recently hit the mother load and was competing with 2 other companies for a 1.6 million dollar job as soon as my boss found out he was very exited but as I was getting closer and closer to seal the deal he started to act like a complete @@$hole a total d!ck towards me , reprimanded me about being late 5 minutes to work,…

That’s surprisingly a low pay

Say what you will about police officers. But when you hear that they often times have to buy their own gear. This is pretty low. Even for a small town.

Exhausted & nearly homeless after multiple deceptions from employers

Back in February I was laid off from my inside sales position where I made $20/hr plus commission. Prior to working there I had been in the service industry and managed well despite being in a much lower tax bracket. That office job was the first time I'd ever lived comfortably & I was heartbroken that it ended & would have to return back to the service industry until I found something else. Since returning to the industry, I've noticed a complete change & not at all in a good way. Since being laid off in February, I've gone through about 4 different SI jobs because I'd been both deceived as well as wildly underpaid for my work. I helped open a new restaurant about 2 months ago for a company that owned over 30+ restaurants. During training as well as the interview I was told that the staff would…

Never been freer

I can't believe how demanding and unrealistic managers are these days! A few weeks ago my jackass boss told me I had to come in to work on a Monday even though I worked 40 yrs the previous week, and had to take a well deserved break over the weekend. Who is he to decide when I have to work!? This guy has no idea how much I need Monday mornings to recover from late nights out with friends over the weekend. So, I quit. I've never felt freer in my adult life. I can sleep in as much as I want and stay out as late as I feel. I've been talking to my former co-workers about leaving as well. Hope his business goes under just as quick as he gets pissed when I would tell him Mondays were a no-go! P. S. My apartment complex decided they want…

The peasants needs to rise up

The time has come for a peasant uprising. We were given an education on the civil rights movement to give us a blueprint on how to fight back. Civil disobedience and organized boycotts. I say we boycott Walmart and the Walten family themselves. Product by product. We can't stop until the billionaire class is dismantled.

Overtime?

I've been working 6 days/week for the past month, but I'm paid every other week. In the handbook, my employer defines overtime as more than 80 hours in a pay period, but I'm pretty sure that's not how both the state & feds define it. My understanding is more than 40 hours in a 7 day period is considered OT for an hourly employee. I ask because we had our company picnic the other week and they paid everyone who attended (it was during work hours) under “holiday pay” and therefore it cut 3.5 hours out of my OT (I worked 96 hours in the 2 week pay period, but they made 3.5 “holiday” + 80 regular hours at my hourly rate and then gave me the extra 12.5 hours at the overtime rate). Don't get me wrong, I'm happy I got paid for the event, but it still kinda…
