I work in a field that is immensely stressful and for a while people were leaving my particular field in droves, before the tech layoffs of the last year. I've tried a number of different strategies to eliminate the stress, and where things are less stressful with more boundaries, limiting my time to 40 hrs, being more direct with my communication, so on … I find the depression and anxiety caused by my job are often more than I can bare and in the last year starting to take a physical toll on my body too. Normally when it gets this bad I just changed jobs and that makes it better for a little while but right now because of all of these tech layoffs and the increased assumption that AI will take on some of the work in my field even though that is not proving to be very…

Walking for job- hot Atlanta sun
I just want some opinions on this. I work for a firm that is very male dominated. We are all remote. We had a corporate meeting at the end of June at a hotel near the Atlanta Airport. Most of us are at least 80% inside-office workers. There were less than 20 of us. I have known health problems. Crohn’s disease makes dehydration a constant battle. But I was also battling menstraution problems. Hemorrhaging badly, and I had no intention of telling my bosses this. Dinner evening 1: were walking to the restaurant. It’s just about 1.5 blocks up the slight hill. It’s 95 degrees. Humid. Miserable. And by the way, not a safe, well patrolled area. When I hear that we’re walking, I politely ask the owner of the company if I heard that correctly. He goes on about safety on numbers, and the accounting folks are all concealed-carrying.…
A little bit of context. I worked for this family owned company for three years. I liked my job, I liked my coworkers and even though the days could be stressful I always got a sense of fulfillment from it so didn't mind. I put the effort in, working as many hours as I could, often doing unpaid work from home if there was something I wanted to build on but didn't have enough hours during the work day. I thought of myself as a decent employee, I got on with all our clients and had good relationships with the directors. I wanted to succeed and I wanted the business to do well and I was driven to make improvements. I was given a management role within 6 months of working for them. I had a baby and planned for a years maternity leave. I ended up working during maternity…
So about two weeks ago I had a rather severe breakdown at work; my meds had been helping a lot but just seemed to fail that day. My mental health has been a bit rough since and my godawful minimum wage retail job along with my petty manager certainly isn’t helping. Even though I’ve been having welfare meetings since January after my last meltdown, and not asked for any kind of time off or work allowances and also tried to not let my mental health effect work as much as possible, my boss still seems to just assume I’m faking it. At least that’s how it seems from his passive aggressive attitude to me (but I do have anxiety and paranoia soooo…). First I tried asking for time off to sort myself out (gave the two weeks required notice for holiday) and had it rejected. He also rejected some time…
Hello Reddit, I was let go a few months back after completing parental leave. Canadian government requested details from former employer regarding my last few payments. However, I have been informed by Canadian Gov that the employer(after 4 months) has still not provided any of the requested information. This is creating quite a stressful situation to my family while I am also seeking other employment. Any advice on what steps I can take next? I have not used EI in over 20 years. Is this the norm these days? Thanks Reddit.
First time poster. Not sure if this is the right place, but worth a try. I'm at my threshold with the place I work, and need to know my options. A little background: I been working in kitchens over 15 years. I been at my current place of employment [non-profit Private Golf Club in PA] for just under a year and a half. Around December, I was diagnosed with Long Covid and went out on disability for about 6 months. This period of time basically wiped my savings, in addition to multiple bills I still need to pay, leaving me with no option but to return on a 'part-time' basis (I still have yet to be cleared from the Long Covid). My Doctor's Release specifically says MAX 3 days per week, 6 hours MAX per day. Safe to say, I have yet to work one day under 6…
UPS ENCOUNTER
Out running errands and saw someone wearing a UPS tshirt that said “United is Stronger”. I went to give him a fist bump and said “Congrats on the new contract. It’s well deserved.” Guy responded with “I’m not a union mooch.” When I said “Go fuck yourself”, his wife had to hold him back.
Exactly as the title says. My grandmother thinks i should be content with making a less than living wage by cleaning bathrooms (probably also a part time position). I know it would not be worth the less than living wage since my older brother has worked doing such (only worked like two or three days a week) and was coming home sick every other week during such. She thinks that my brother’s experience is just an “excuse” and thinks i should be content with less than liveable for legitimate health risks as a job.
NURSE WAGE THEFT? Advice needed!!!!
Hi all, I’m a registered nurse working in a hospital that is always short staffed. I work 12 hour shifts and with our patient ratios, it is very rare to take a lunch, pee, or even drink water. Our time & attendance software is UKG dimensions and asks you “have you had a 30 minute uninterrupted lunch break?” when you clock out. I specifically remember not taking a lunch on a certain shift because of how high acuity my patients were. Today, I looked at my time card and noticed that the lunch deduction on that day had been edited out by my manager. She did not talk to me or anything. It was just edited out without my knowledge. And now I’m looking at my timecard and I’m noticing that most of my shifts since February (my start date) have been edited. So basically they have just been editing…
I plan on contacting DOL (NYC)
Two things.. i work for Amazon delivery, each company gets a certain amount of routes.. but the company will put extra people on the schedule just in case somebody doesn’t come into work. So for example. Fast transport delivery LLC, will get 30 routes, but will put 33 people on the schedule, so now say 3 people don’t come in.. those extra 3 people that would’ve got sent home.. gets a route.. but if everybody comes into work.. (those with a good score card based on delivery) get their route.. and those with a bad score card gets sent home.. I’ve recently learned, you’re entitled to “show up pay, call in pay” Is this true? I’ve showed up to work ready to work but get sent home.. Second.. when delivering if you’re behind, dispatch will send some body to rescue you and take some packages from you.. i told one…
