I reported my employer to the DOL for not paying me on time.

I worked at a place for a out 5 mo ths and it was always a pain to get my checks. Friday was Pay day, but also my day off. But checks were rarely available on Monday morning. Managers would lock them in their desks or take them home, “for safekeeping” so I'd have to wait until they clocked in on Monday or Tuesday to get checks. Time sheets were always inaccurate too. I sent so many emails trying to locate my checks and they were ignored So I gave 2 weeks notice. My last day was the 9th. I was supposed to get a check on the 11th and the my final check on the 25th. I made a plan to pick up the check on the 11th, but last minute they told me to come on Monday instead because the office was closed Friday. On Monday I got…

Can my employer revoke a one day a week telework privilege due to fmla usage?

Let me preface this post by acknowledging that as a supervisor I would hate to have an employee like me. I am a mid level manager, 6 subordinates in a technical firm. I am beyond full social security age and milking my time at my employer to increase my 30-year pension by a few dollars. Also, 100% pay versus 50% pension, plus I have oodles of sick time which is paid and my 12 weeks of approved fmla is protected. I plan on holding out on ss until age 70. I would like to get another 12 months of work time. My employer has gone through a shake up and I am the last man standing of my contemporaries and all young new people have been hired. Mentally, I am done, my interest in the work is kaput, I’ve become a cynical, but polite, curmudgeon. Coupled with all this, is…

Wrong employment dates, will this show on background check? (US)

My resume has a wrong date listed (don’t ask why please, don’t want to get into that) for when I started my current job. It’s the right company and exact job title listed however. I’m posting here because I am so tired of being nervous over this BS and hate how much employers control your life here. I did nothing wrong and I’m still nervous. Anyway, I’m required to do a third party background check (credit, criminal, education, employment, etc.) and on there the HR added that wrong date. I had to check whether or not I give permission for third party to contact my current employer. I put no, but I also have my SSN and a bunch of other info. Will they still be able to see dates either way without contacting employer?

I’m a regular employee and I hate “sick days” and think they’re way too abusable

I work at a hospital. We're a bit understaffed and busy like all hospitals, but nothing dangerous or crazy. The department I work in is “important” and directly affects the quality of care patients receive. There are union employees and non-union employees. I am non-union and do not have an option for union. I work directly with employees who are union. Non-union employees share their PTO with sick days/vacation (if you're sick you use a vacation day) while union employees have separate sick days and vacation days. A doctor's note is not required. My department is not in a position at this time to “cover” for the call in. So if someone calls in, you have to cover their work and there is no attempt to replace them. When this happens, it puts an enormous amount of strain on everyone else and sometimes they have to work doubles. Now I…

Boss’s can’t seem to follow rules they make…

CEO Hey in the future keep all correspondence limited to text and emails to your bosses. As well as don't come downstairs Me * Okay cool sounds good in the future I'll do that* Boss 1 & 2 & 3 “We don't know why you aren't allowed down here doesn't make much sense, but could you come down here and do XYZ” Me ” Sure but you know I'm not allowed down here right?” Boss 1 & 2 & 3 “Yeah I'll probably get in trouble for this but it's fine” *Me literally doing what they have told me to do (All of these bosses have done this on multiple occasions at various times) *Boss 4 “Hey you know I have to file a report and talk to the CEO about you being down here I don't know why you aren't because it was done while I was on maternity…

Quit my new job 3 days into it

For context: I have a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in biology and I recently graduated with an MBA from a top 10 business school. I have about 6 years of work experience, but have been looking to switch sectors into something closer to my educational background in biology and haven’t had much luck, primarily because of not enough experience in that sector within this geography. So when I got offered a job at a local startup, I jumped at the opportunity. There were some red flags from day 1: they massively low-balled me with the salary; their offer was lower than the amount on the posted job description. They explained it as, “you have low experience” which was fine, because really, I did only need the experience. Then came day 2, when the receptionist was clocking my times in and out of the office (without my knowledge), basically bathroom…

Mentally and physically exhausted working healthcare

So not to give too much information (confidentiality and all that) I work in a Type 2 behavioral home and I myself have some mental health issues. I'm not one to quit a job because the job is hard, because the job isn't hard. I admit there are some days where physical violence triggers me, and I just have to take it. It's LITERALLY in my training to just take it. I've been abused, that's not an option as a first thought for me. Lately I've been dealing with something that was my fault and triggering. Traumatic experience and I haven't been in my right mind in 3 months. I've been working on healing but it's not easy when I work here. I live alone since I moved out of my sisters apartment and this is hard, I'm trying to adjust, going to therapy, the works. But I get triggered…
