Not really 'Antiwork' but I recently interviewed at a company where I had a good experience, plus I needed to get out of my current company because of many issues. Anyways, so in this interview, it seems I made a mistake by saying I want $5K/month as salary. The recruiter agreed without hesitation and carried forward. She was really cool, taken back person. I enjoyed the conversation. But it seems I made a mistake asking that amount. I should have asked more like $6.5k/month. I know I cannot take it back. Probably a lesson learnt. But any advice from anyone of you how I would handle it now or just go with it and then ask in about 2 years with a 40% hike? I am helping a friend and posting here to get them advice. Theyre not a tipped employee, they make above min wage hourly for retail, but like most places their POS system offers customers to pay a tip on every card purchase; however many people are seemingly kind enough to tip most of the time. Tips are offered in percentiles, so it's always a percentage of the total purchase. This person was reviewing their paystubs and saw that at the beginning of 2023, the amount of tips on each check was changing from either a strict amount of $100 or $200 per check, to sometimes $0, $50, $60 or $65. It's odd that the tips always add up to one of those three figures, and there has never been a pay period where customers never tip so there should never be a check with $0. They are told tips from…

This is more of a vent then anything but I'm sure many of you have experienced this. Why do jobs who have approved/agreed to and signed off on a set availability always refuse to at some point stay within that availability and then look at you like your crazy when you approach them and tell them you are unavailable as per signed agreement and always have been! I mean they literally go in and override what is in the system without a conversation with you first and then act all surprised and mad when you remind them you have that agreed upon availability for a reason…..the awkward silence until it's like fine but they are not happy about it, but that's not my fault or problem, you did it to yourself!

I've been working for this company for roughly two years as a Senior equity analyst role. My boss is totally incompetent, lazy, and micromanaging in nature. He knows that certain work takes two weeks but pushes us to finish in less than a week. He will come and nag every time about me not working hard enough. PS I am pretty much running the whole department workflow myself, I was also promised a promotion which never happened, but got a small salary raise instead. My boss does no work at all, he just sits in his office all day staring at flights, and gives us all the dirty workload. I'm going to have to find a different job. I moved out of state and kept remote with my employer. They knew that I would be required to pay state taxes in the new state. I had to move because of my family member's job. There is documentation of this. It's been over 5 months and: They haven't withheld and then paid any of my state taxes. When I talked about paying a portion on my own – I was falsely told to not do it because if I did – the employer couldn't pay their portion. I was encouraged to NOT speak with the state department for taxes. I spoke to a CPA today and was advised that the state could levy fines against me for paying income state taxes late.
