I make about 35k a year at my job. It’s not my only income but still I work 40 hours a week and I’m exhausted by the time I get home. I’ve made my boss almost half a million dollar profit in 4-5 months. Recently to show how appreciative he is for me and my coworker he got us a Little Ceasers pizza. Just 1 large pizza. Idk why but it got me questioning everything.

I'm out of of town for the one weekend i was able to get away from working in the restaurant industry this entire summer. i have one scheduled shift between today and next wednesday, positive covid test photo would excuse me from that and allow me to enjoy one real vacation. a personal photo from your gallery would be preferred so it would not be a save from google. perhaps we can all share here as a place to save and utilize unique photos of positive tests for this reason. thanks y'all
Wake him up so we can fire him
So it's 7am my bf is sleeping and the phone rings. It's his work. It's his day off. I answer and ask if they need him to come in. Guy says no, just call. An hour or so later, guy calls again. I asked if he took the keys home by accident or something? Guy says no, but it's urgent and I would like a call back within the hour. I'm like ok, maybe they're trying to do the schedule or something? IDK so I wait a half hour or so and wake him up. Tell him the guy said it was urgent. My BF was like, well it better be. I was thinking the same thing, honestly. So he calls work and they fire him. Who was that urgent for, exactly?
been struggling to get to work cause of not having a working vehicle at the moment and I was written up for Conflict Of Interest cause the contract manager found out that I was getting rides to work and home from an employee that is under me which I wasn’t aware of is a problem , she offered cause she lives down the street , yet I have proof of the contract manager going out to the bars/clubs with her supervisors ( photos) which is under her, not sure what do cause even in the employee book it states that any relationships/friendships outside of work is fine ? I do work on a military base, I asked her even if I get dropped off across from the base say the gas station and she said it’s still a no, I feel like she can go do stuff like that with…
So, details, I was working within a production environment when a still (pressure cooker like device) developed a blockage in its vent, started dispersing steam from around it’s lid seal. When attempting to move it from its hot plate, the lid detached/released and sprayed boiling hot water & steam over my forearm leaving me with second and third degree burns which have obviously left scarring. I have no other injuries or complications from this. So my question is, would you sue? No win no fee?
Is management retaliating against me?
TLDR: Management split my team in half, implemented a new grading system, 3 out of 5 of my team members already quit, and now management is coming down on me for speaking up. Backstory: I work in Digital Content for a big supply company’s online marketplace and last October, 5 members of my team were split off to work data entry for new items. This was a small responsibility that the whole team used to work on, pairs of us taking one day off a week to do it instead of doing our normal jobs (taking requests from the business folks called ‘buyers’ to make all kinds of updates across the site, something new every day). The idea was that us 5 would do data entry under a brand new manager and take on projects to update old items to improve the site and break up the monotony. It wasn’t…
Seen a few chef shows/movies before, sous chefs usually just stand there or fall to the ground after chefs attack them. Watched Hunger (2023) on Netflix recently about a restaurant in Asia, sous chef there stabbed the chef after being attacked. Why don’t American sous chefs do that? Also it’s really stupid to yell/attack someone who has a knife/burning pan.
I interviewed someone and knew during the first hour of a 3-4 hour interview day that I wasn’t going to hire her. She couldn’t answer the most basic conceptual questions for the role. Then in the next interview with my team she asked if she would have time to work on other things during the work day while she is supposed to be delivering a service, interview with supervisor – also bombed. Like, every step of the way. So, how terrible would it be for me as the hiring manager to say, “I don’t think this is going to be a good fit. We can cancel the rest of the interview day.” On the one hand, I’m not wasting any more of your time (or my teams) but on the other hand it seems kinda harsh. Also, not sure I want to tell her all the red flags because she…
The land of the in-between
I feel like I am being taken advantage of. I started a contract position this past spring. 90 Day contract, 520 Hours with the opportunity for a full time position at the end of the contract. Cool, awesome, no problem. Fast forward to the end of my contract, everything is quite peachy. I have taken initiative and been noticed and eventually offered a higher paying position set to start 2 weeks after the offer letter was signed. I signed the same day. I felt like it would be a good fit, and it seemed like they felt the same. So here is my issue, 6 weeks ago I signed the paperwork. I have worked an entire month past the “start date”. Technically I am still a temporary employee, paid by the contractor. I am not eligible for health benefits for 30 days after my “start date”, vacation doesn't kick in…
