I was a temp hire for a company and got officially hired 3 months later. During my time here, I was learning at a fast rate and have been give a lot of responsibilities. They have an annual raise and apparently everyone was getting a raise except me. The reason was because I was hired too “late”. I didn’t make the cut off date where I can receive a raise. Apparently I had to be working a full year to be eligible for a raise. I was working for a total of 9 month. However, I was official hired late making it only “6 months”. The issue is I won’t get a raise once when I do hit that 1 year mark, but rather I will have to wait the next time they give the annual raise. Meaning I’ll have to work another 1 year and 4 months. I found…

Its all who you know. Its all about who’s ass you are kissing. So called experts call this being extroverted and being able to network, I just call it plain old bs. There are a lot of people with two digit IQ’s getting paid quite a lot of money. They post influencer crap to linkedin and mingle with other assholes. They like kissing each other’s asses. They promote each other, their children and relatives. They call this talent. I call it mediocre people promoting mediocre people. These people get the best jobs. Then they tell more intelligent people that they have to up their game to get better jobs.
So we have gotten a few bad reviews on Google and my boss is now trying to force our office and warehouse staff to post 5 star reviews on Google and show proof or we lose hours. Is there anything I can do? Some way to report this to Google? I wanted to purposely post a bad review from a different email but I feel like one review isn't going to do much once he gets everyone to post positive ones.
Double standards. See title.
This is as fundamental as water and air. Without food none of us could survive for more than a few days. Yet the US government has refused to recognize a person’s inalienable right to food. This was under the Trump administration but it hasn’t changed under Biden. What kind of a sick society refuses to recognize this basic right. But if we did our nation could be held accountable for the food insecurity plaguing our nation and its communities. https://geneva.usmission.gov/2017/03/24/u-s-explanation-of-vote-on-the-right-to-food/#:~:text=The%20United%20States%20does%20not,Economic%2C%20Social%20and%20Cultural%20Rights.
It's wild how many people don't know about this but I'll try and give a condensed version of the story. In 1916 Ford Motors found themselves with 60 million dollars of Capital Surplus. Henry Ford wanted to use this Surplus to invest in new production plants, cut costs on the Model T, and continued to increase wages for workers as opposed to paying out special dividends to shareholders. This pissed off minority shareholders. Primarily the Dodge brothers who made a lawsuit out of it. In 1919 the lawsuit had made its way to the Michigan Supreme Court which ruled that Henry Ford could not lower consumer costs and raise employee wages and was made to pay out special dividends to shareholders. This became the principle called “Shareholder Primacy” which basically pushes companies to treat share holders as their first priority. This also set a precedent for corporate America going forward.…
I had a performance review with my supervisor in early June and was recommended to a senior position and a salary adjustment. All was fine and dandy but August is coming up and my contract is ending soon. Contacted HR a couple of times to ask for progress but was denied and they were ‘too busy’. Didn’t take long for me to start applying elsewhere and thankfully, my former colleague had a job opening in his place and I was offered the job after going through formalities. When I dropped the bomb a few days ago, HR came guns blazing and always remarked that I was an ‘asset’ to the company. They asked for a number but I refused to give and would like to see what they have to offer. End up offered me a half bake reactive, by name only senior position offer with less pay from new…
So as I'm selling my business that I ran for the last 13 years, packing up my things and moving onto the next chapter of my life. I realized how hard it has been to get hired or to even get an actual human being to look at my resume. This wasn't some fly by my pants decision either. This whole change in my life has been at least a year and a half in the making. I went to the appropriate classes, I got the certification that I needed and I did all of this while still running the business full time. After I took the classes, passed the certification exam and got certified, I spammed my resume to all of the appropriate jobs listing. I have honestly lost track of how many applications I've sent out. For all my efforts, I only managed an interview with two separate…
