hello, this is my first time posting like this on reddit, please advise me if there is anything to correct. I'm looking for advice on my situation at my job. I work in an entry level job for a hospital system (clerical/admin support). the past 2 years I have had a decline in my physical and mental health (half in part thanks to the stress the job gives, the other to new health issues arising) that causes performance and attendance issues. I wanted to know if it would be reasonable to request a transfer of position to a remote call center job within the system. this would allow me to not have to call out of work as much than I already do. this would need me to transfer departments but I don't know if this is something I ask my current supervisor or hr about? any advice would be…

There are 3 layers of workers in every company, the gervais principale is based on the american tv show the office: Most of you here are clueless, a couple are losers, and obviously a sociopath will laugh at this sub. – The sociopath ex david wallace: the asshole who is willing to do anything to make money, doesn't care about anyone and will fire, destroy, buy or sell the company as long as he makes money. – The loser ex oscar: he is more in a sense of an economic loser. He is smart and competent, but for whatever reason, ( his ethics, laziness, lack of ambition) he choose to do a job that is unchallenging and under his competency making just enough to live. Most of them are detached and go by their day to day job and find fulfillment in life doing other more rewarding activities outside of…
C'mon y'all. How in the ever-loving-hell are we so connected, able and equipped to stand up for ourselves but this whole “movement” high point was getting destroyed by FOX news 2 years ago? I love this sub, I believe in our shared values but I think we need to reflect and critize ourselves to examine what we could be doing to not just be the…for lack of a better term…crybaby's. Like, really? The best we can do is have a echo chamber for our discontents? Are none of us motivated enough to stand up? Or is the truth something worse? i.e. the lot of us are spoiled and/or entitled, lazy, whining cowards? I hate to use such harsh terms but I think we should be able to talk amongst ourselves and be willing to consider the harsh reality…
The company's headed for an external audit, so my manager asked everyone to clean up slack and discord history. Risque memes, dirty jokes, etc all had to go. This already left a bad taste in my mouth, because it feels like we're just sanitizing everything for inspection without actually addressing any underlying issues. Which is supposedly the point of getting audited. Then one of my coworkers asked if text chains needed to be deleted as well. I think he was trying to be sarcastic, as in do you really want us to go through this shit instead of doing our jobs. Manager calls his bluff. Says yes, anything from the past three years has to be vetted. He then asked us to give him our phones- he would go through them to delete red flag conversations while we cleaned up chat history on other platforms. Here's the thing, we don't…
Upper management doesn’t care!
Do you ever wonder why certain places are always hiring? (Hospital, in this case?). Our management is so into how well you do on your knees, rather than how you work. Favoritism is so rampant and people are afraid to do anything. Our manager is a straight up gangster and threatens you with termination and write ups right away. If you don’t conform to the way they do things, you don’t get shit. Other people get moved around and your stuck. We are a non-union hospital, I have decided to say f&$k it, not worth my mental health to deal with these asshats! Started to look for something else, have only told a certain few. The looks on their faces is priceless, they have now started to look. So by my count, about a third of the department will be bouncing soon. Manager like this should not be rewarded but…
Reading through some posts and mainly the one about salaries under 50K, I see everyone mentioning degrees. How many of you have degrees that are actually relevant to your position or field? I’ve seen a few that detail their degree but most just say which type of degree, and it has nothing to do with their job so why would someone expect more money in that case? Those that don’t work in their studied field, why? Appreciate any comments!
Mngr taking advantage
Im at a fintech company and my manager has assigned me one of the highest workloads in the team and has me doing the work no one else wants to do. All manager callbacks are assigned to me and the manager has a couple of favorites, I have been assigned part of their too. Should I look to leave as things have been getting worse.
I was recalled to my union position in May of last year with a start date in mid July. In October, the company told me this was a mistake but they would allow me to stay as a new hire with no seniority. They made sure to tell me that this was non-negotiable and gave me 48 hours to sign the new contract. There was insufficient time for me to get a hold of anyone helpful in union leadership. The in-plant rep told me I could sign it, or quit and re-apply in a year. Obviously that wasn’t in the cards as I had already been working for several months and didn’t have another job lined up. I couldn’t negotiate pay as if I was a new hire because I had already accepted the pay I was given, $22.50/hr (the wage I was laid off at). So now I’m a…
Seams like something they should be paying for. 60 bucks is more than 3 hours pay at this place.
Hey all. Just a heads up that there are another round of mass firings happening on Tuesday, August 22nd. Most likely on same scale to previous firings that entail both corporate and store associates.
