Both from a driver and a user standpoint these companies are fucking awful and just keep getting worse. All I ever see on the driver subreddits is complaints about how terrible pay is, and how it only keeps decreasing. From my own experience as a driver I know this to be true. On the user side everyones sick of crazy high fees and sick of feeling guilted into tipping huge amounts (because they know the drivers are being paid so little.) I've been on the rideshare subs for a little while now and I see constant tension between drivers and many of the people ordering food/riding, to the point that some people come there just to troll and belittle the job we're doing. And now I'm seeing articles about self-driving car services like Cruise that are going to do the same thing uber and lyft do but with AI. I…

My manager made me cry
I work in claims and today I had my one on one with my manager. I expected it to go well since I went above and beyond at work and even worked off the clock. Instead my manager criticized me for 30 minutes straight. One of the issues she brought up is me working off the clock. Now I can understand that and I definitely will stop working off the clock especially since I can see how the company can get in trouble for not paying me for working off the clock but the problem I had is that anytime I spoke a word, she would try to twist it into something negative. I apologized to her and told her I won’t work off the clock anymore but she made it seem like I was doing it on purpose to get the company in trouble when it was simply old…
Applied for one today that asked on the application if I'd be ok working 72 hours every week. I made sure to let them know that 72 hours is ridiculous and that I would be glad to accept that salary at 40 hours a week
So I’ve worked overnight most jobs I’ve had, and the morning person is practically always late. With one exception, every time I have to wait for another person, I’m always getting off late. And as far as I can tell, that person literally never faces negative repercussions for their behavior. They’re consistently 30 minutes late? “Aww, sorry buddy. I’ll try better tomorrow.” I’m 10 minutes late one time in 6 months? I’m getting a call from my supervisor or it’s being brought up in our 1 on 1. At a certain point, I have to wonder if I’m taking crazy pills. I’d call it nepotism, but there’s hardly any pre-existing relationships in most of these situations.
I quit when my coworker got promoted
I was told to post this here. I work for the company where they no longer hire new people when someone quits or gets promoted but rather distribute the work among the other employees. I have very specific job that is currently done by approximately 5 people in my country. A year ago my coworker (Ana) who also does this job got promoted because a coworker quit and she took over his department. Our boss thinks Ana is still helping me because the tasks this coworker had were distributed among 4 people (me included). Ana is my friend but is a horrible coworker. I can’t count on her at all. Since this job is mostly done by me for the past few years the customers give me shit when she doesn’t do her part (even after she promises she would) so I’m have to do overtime all the time. I…
If our claim to fame is that at our health insurance system is better than Uganda and Bolivia than that’s a bar set too low. My friend who is in the Uk was complaining about their healthcare system and how there is delays and I asked him if he saw a doctor? He said yes and then I asked how much did he pay? He said nothing. I described my wisdom tooth extraction with a oral surgeon in Miami FL and the $2,300 bill I received and that my health insurance company paid $1,700 and I had to pay the difference. I was on the Canada Sub subreddit and these folks are complaining about their system and I just want to remind them you don’t need to take mortgage for chemo therapy. I know some folks are going to come here and reflexively defend this system. Don’t bother. I am…
Walked out from an interview today
Had an interview for an upper management position in a large big box retailer today. I scheduled the interview with the district manager last week for 12:30pm today. I arrive at 12:20 and check in at customer service. The team member there said she notified them and they said they would be “right down”. 20 minutes later, nobody has come down, that team member walks past me again and said she notified them a second time but they must be in a meeting. Another 25 minutes goes by and nobody has come. I get up and notify that same team member that I'm leaving and if the district manager does eventually come down to let them know that. As I'm walking out the district manager finally comes. She said she's sorry and that she got caught up. I said that's fine but I have other things I have to do…
I’m not sure if this belonged here, but I was working at a huge fast food corporation 2 years ago. I know it’s probably too late to really do anything, but I was just wrapping up my shift, probably about 30-45 minutes left. I forget, but that’s irrelevant. There were 2 managers on shift, and I was the youngest. There was someone complaining at the front line that their kid was using the bathroom and complaining about how filthy it was. So, the manager went to go look and came back laughing, saying that it was covered in feces. Both managers were joking about it, and that’s when they said to have me clean it because I was the youngest, all while laughing. Being 14, I felt like I had no choice and did not argue when they gave me a mop and bleach, without any gloves or anything. I…
