Walgreens offer at one location, say I won’t be working there?

Recently I had an interview with Walgreens this past Friday. They sent me and offer letter late Saturday. In the letter they claimed I would be working at a specified location (which is ~5 minutes from my house). However, during the interview they said to me that I would be “floating” around stores in the district until I was ready to have my own store to work at. They also said I would not be working at the store they sent me the offer for. What is the purpose of doing that? If that’s a store I will never be at, why was it on the job listing and why was it on my offer letter? It’s very frustrating because the whole appeal was working at that location.

No one at my work wants to unionize

When I bring up the topic most of then will say that unions are actually bad, and they bring up myths like unions dues making you earn less, and other myths. Its just so frustrating cause we could have a much better work environment, our bosses run skelton crews so if even like 8 people went on strike that would cause major damage

What really happens when you contact employer after you post a negative review?

I left a bad job a few weeks ago. I received a better offer and I was over the company anyways so I was happy to leave. I left a review anonymously on Glassdoor. Some of my complaints were normal complaints (pay, PTO, bad management) but I did mention some comments my coworkers made about pronouns and how they were stupid & the fact that our company was “forcing us to recognize pronouns” was ridiculous. Fast forward a few days and they replied to my review. It was the e generic “Please reach out to us so we can discuss this at [email protected]”. I’m the only review they have responded to out of hundreds. Do you think they just want to know who the employee was badmouthing pronouns? I highly doubt they’re trying to make anything better with me.

2023 Covid PTO policy

Hello All, Long time lurker. Rarely post. I had Covid a couple of weeks ago. When I popped positive I sent my boss the info. I also had a high temp. But for the most part it was a fever and just feeling crappy. He told me their policy was once I popped positive I need to take 5 days off. I have never used any sick time so this was new to me. I live in PA and the job is based in the lehigh valley. They have 17000 employees nationwide and over 100 where I work. My question is this. I never got any sick time. They took my PTO. When I questioned this they said they stopped paying out and Covid absences in 2022. When I checked the governments website it said they should cover me up to 10 days. ( I was off 4). When I…

The day before my start date in new job company decided to ghost me

I applied for a pharmaceutical company overnights at their distribution center. Making good money and a good schedule. Went through the whole process of 2 interviews, walking through the facility without pay to look at how they did things. Did all the paperwork. Did all the tests I needed. Signed the contract. And waited for the start date on August 7, August 6 around 11pm I got an email saying that the position had been filled and thank you. I tried to get in contact with the team and no answer at all For a couple of days now I’ve sent emails and called And nothing at all. Is this a normal thing companies do? What happened? Why would they wait till the last day to send that email? Do I do anything else or am I screwed?

How to make peace with working with awful people?

A colleague of mine has finally been busted for bullying junior members of staff. It was a classic case of him being all sweetness to the senior team and making those of us below him live in hell. He finally took it far enough that he has been given a strict warning, but he's already leaving the company in a couple of weeks and going to work elsewhere. It makes me angry that he will get away with this and probably continue at the next place. I don't know if my company would be honest if he asked for a reference, but he got the new job before he was caught for bullying. Those of you who have to work with horrible people – how do you make peace with it and prevent it from ruining your whole mood every day? I know I'm gonna be working with assholes the…

Toxicity and unprofessionalism in management

My teenage daughter has chosen to quit her job after over a year of being unappreciated, (no thank you even for covering many no show shifts), and having to deal with ADULT managers spreading rumors along with her teenage coworkers. I have advised her to quit as this last year has seriously effected her mental health, and the childish, unprofessional behavior at the location has not improved. Any other advice for a hardworking teenager who has essentially been forced out of her first job?

is the economy bad enough to leave the US?

This economy is going downhill and downhill FAST. the job market is horrendous, housing is terrible, inflation and everything is rising, and it seems like we are far away from a revolution or change. Is there any benefit to leaving the country though? will the effort not be worth it? and if so, what countries would be at least livable?
