F em, we hold more power than we think.

I work a state job, allegedly 40 hours a work, realistically work 10, maybe 15 hours a week. I get my shit done within those hours and enjoy my life the rest. Currently on my back porch working on a story (really enjoy creative writing). Funny enough, I'm really liked but my coworkers and management alike and thought to be a hard worker. Even got an additional raise at my 1 year! Lol. I'm really not trying to rub my situation in. I'm trying to show that it's possible to not be dominated by your workplace as I see from lots of posts here. That in fact, we can turn it around on the bastards. Yes, deceiving the government is easiest, but I've seen it done in many corporate environments too. My brother works as a software engineer in corporate and clocks similar hours to me while getting paid for…

Wondering if anyone here has worked at Lardo before?

What was your experience? I’ve looked on sites like Glassdoor, but I don’t find much, and the reviews never seem legitimate anymore.

What’s the thing with not sharing how much you make?

Bit of a less terrible story (at least on my end). I'm not gonna go too far into the details, but TLDR, I recently broke a record of daily tasks at my work, and as a result the boss asked me to talk with him. He planned to raise my pay overall and says he plans bigger stuff for me as a result. (Not quite sure on the details of it yet.) However, he was adamant that I should not share the information regarding my raise with anyone at all. I'm legitimately confused why he'd think this is a bad thing. Wouldn't it make more sense to let the others know that there IS in fact a reward for doing more? I figured I'd ask here as I have literally no idea on this. Anyone else have any ideas?

Considering a second job :(

The struggle is real…prices have gone up but my wages haven’t increased much to match it. Anyone else in the same boat right now? I was recently diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease and would hate to work 60+ hours but I don’t see any other alternative.

People who have quit because of a supervisor or a manager

How did you tell them that they were the issue? I’m planning on leaving soon and it’s because of my project lead and I know during the exit interview they will ask and I want to tell them that it’s my lead but I don’t want to make my remaining time here miserable. Thoughts?

Coworker I met for the first time said to me, “I’ve heard of you, your ‘so-and-so’s bitch” right in front my boss and HR manager and they both told me it was a joke and to calm down.

As the title says, I was recently at a work outing. I've been working at this place for about 2 years. I met a coworker during this outing for the first time. My boss and the HR manager introduced me to them. Before meeting them we each had had a couple drinks. My boss, the HR manager and this new-to-me person are all very close. Like, they've all been working together for 10+ years and sometimes will go on vacations together. Also, this HR manager and the new-to-me person share the same unique last name. So, it leads me to believe they're either related or married. Anyways, were all having a great time and I sit down in their vicinity. My boss introduces me and I shit you not, the first thing that comes out of their mouth is, “yeah I've heard of you, you' re your bosses bitch”. My…

Am I an entitled asshole?

I make 130K canadian in base salary a year, and manage a team of 15 sales people. If we hit our goals, I'll get up to $200K a year. My wife makes 65K a year, so jointly we are 200-265k a year. But between child care, we have 3 kids under 13, and taxes, mortgage (2k/month), food, etc we still feel a real squeeze. I can't imagine how families manage on much less, let alone sizeably less. How are families possibly surviving? Middle class at 200K a year – wtf?

Requesting off for elective surgery

I'm trying to pull the trigger on breast reduction surgery. I've got documented recurring back issues, but just started this new job (state substitute). We've got a full staff right now and I know at least 2 other teachers aid are pursuing substitute certifications so eventually there would be trained people able to fill my spot when I'm out. With the way Summer school works, the longest period I have off work is 2 weeks. I'd have to wait a full year to use that but it's a possibility. Doc recommended downtime is bed rest for 3 weeks (full recovery 2-3mo) but my close friends that have had it say they've been up and back to work as soon as 1.5 weeks. So I've got a few questions- Should I even go into any detail about what sort of surgery it is? I feel like people will view breast reduction…

Should I throw them under the bus?

I am traveling for work and living in a dorm setting with 3 other guys. I put a picture of my wife and I up next to my bed. Two of the guys said they were going to masturbate to it when I wasn’t around, one is actually my boss on this trip. Needless to say even if they were joking is way beyond the line. So when I get home I think I’m going to let the big boss know. What do you all think?
