Thursday night at work, a co-worker & I sat for a few minutes in chairs at empty desks. We didn't bother anything on the desks. We were waiting for things in our area (visible from & adjacent to where we sat) to be ready so we could go to work. Nobody was using those desks at the time. Friday, I went to sit there again and one chair had a note on the seat, “you can't sit here”. Huh. OK… Moved it aside, used the chair that was nearby. Next time I was in, the assistant department manager lectured all of us: “See those chairs over there? None of you are allowed to sit in them!” WTF?! Pretty sure those belong to the company. Plus, again, we didn't mess with anything on the desks. Some people never outgrew high school.
Month: August 2023
Its our independence day today. So it is suppose to be national holiday. I slept in obviously because I was tired and missed calls from my supervisor. I got reprimanded for it as how I can't be available today on call(my role is remote) but it was a holiday. They expect us to work on national holiday. Wtf. And also, now I have to work 3-4 hours on a holiday. So lets see how it goes. Fml.
Hello everyone! I saw a post last week and there were a bunch of people commenting that they had remote jobs with very little actual work to do, this is what I desperately need right now, anybody have advice for me to obtain this amazing opportunity?!
“Clean don’t lean” type managers
Anyone got their stories on these type of managers/owners? Here's mine. I worked in an open cafeteria type kitchen where we had a front kitchen visible to customers and a back kitchen where most of the prep was done. Customers would order food and get a “ticket” then go look around the tourist part of the building while their food cooked. They would bring the ticket back and get their food but no cutlery. Cutlery was at the checkout at the end of the cafeteria when they paid. Stupid system that had rampant food waste and theft. Anyways someone always had to be standing out front. This person worked the grill, cold table, ex. In slow times it was just 1 person. Even if the cafeteria was empty someone had to be there on the off chance a customer walked in. Now I have been a cook for a while.…
Doing work outside of job description
Hey all. So, I got hired at a small company to do some ecommerce management. Basically managing things like their Amazon account and website. I’m only about 4 months into the job with a raise to be discussed at the 6 month mark. Maybe about a month ago, we had to create new graphics for some products. My boss had no one to do this and I told him I have some experience in photography and photoshop and that I could do it for him. I expected this to be a one time thing and I offered my skills to be curteous as I wanted to help. (I know, I know) Fast forward to now: Product photography, color grading and graphic design has become a pretty regular part of my job with these tasks taking entire days sometimes on top of my actual job description that I also do regularly.…
Boss ripping me off
My paycheck is short $200 every week. driving my own vehicle for the past year to Southern Denver from northern Longmont every day. He said he would pay me $0.40 a mile and he's not even doing that. I'm in Colorado what should I do? Take him to court? Reporting to the labor board? I don't know what to do but I know what I want to do will just land me in jail.
So at work, a job I started just over a year ago, I've been getting chewed out by my boss for things I don't remember doing or events that I don't remember happening. The first thing was a safety issue involving safety glasses, in the entire year since I started I've never once had a issue with wearing them, I always wear them, and in my previous job, a similar factory position in which I worked 5 years I never had a single citation for not wearing my safety glasses. Then in just two days my boss said that twicr he spotted me without my glasses on and that the next time he'd write me up for it. That hasn't happened since but I don't remember not wearing my glasses, I even asked my team leader and she said she's never had to tell me to put them on nor…
I got back from my short vacation and needed a lift back home after coming back to town and got an Uber back to my apartment 20 minutes away. We get there and he sighs and waited a few seconds before exclaiming “man I’m done for the day, I’m beat”. I asked him about how his other ride where and it turns out I was his first ride of the day and he was just so burnt out and tired, and that he just wanted to go home and relax on his only day off. I handed him all the cash I had in my wallet leftover from my trip ($22) and he immediately started getting choked up and started profusely thanking me. I tipped him an additional 10 off my card in hopes of making his day better, but what kind of world do we live in that $22…
So I know it's long but hang in there…. this is a message sent to the entire company (roughly 15-20 employees I believe) from the co-owner of the company. Apparently a majority of the staff quit following this, leading to boss man having to call everyone he just crapped all over and beg them to stay. Replaced all names with dashes for privacy, but know he's calling people out by name. This was also sent as a group text. ‐—————————- Guys this is not proper mgmt (praise in public criticize in private) I’ve been nice I’ve been patient I’ve bent over backwards for you children! (No I'm not drinking) FYI my most difficult and worrisome task for me is scheduling to make all of you happy and getting you paid but none of you are really working any extra or really seam to care if you sell or not or…
