Hey, long time lurker of all things reddit and thought to share…not to mention I need to tell somebody even if anonymous off the internet, oh well. Now, here's some context: I've been working at my current job for over 5 years now, and I've endured A LOT of verbal abuse, racial profiling, and bordering on sometimes physical danger. I'm in an environment where Forklift is the main means of Picking, Receing, Shipping, damn near anything needs to be done by forklift…and in a gigantic freaking warehouse where said forklifts are all second hand and break down almost every week, you can understand where some of the danger comes in. Major danger above everything else is my management. When they moved to this warehouse they decided the metal racking was too rusty and ugly so in order to appease to taking pictures for other warehouses to model after, they got…

Im depressed and don’t know what to do
Ive been job hopping for awhile now. Longest I worked was at a book store for minimum wage for 3 years. I stayed because I felt my work was appreciated. Ive already had three jobs this year all in early childcare and I cant do it anymore. I thought it was the center or the management but I cannot handle taking care of 16 one year olds with very little help anymore. I doubt I will find a job that will want to hire me with my job hopping and if I do get hired I doubt i'll feel appreciated. Im so exhausted I dont even have energy for my hobbies anymore. What do I do?
Management recently came up to me and told me that they want all employees (which includes non sales leads) to watch each other, write down all the mistakes everyone makes (which includes people's conversations with each other and the topics of those conversations), and then report everything to them. Apparently, since management is only there 40 hours a week, the rest of the staff have to be their ears and eyes when their gone.
Dress Code at Work
I wore non-jean black shorts to work today which go past my fingertips by a few inches. Someone pulled me aside and said they got complaints about my shorts being too short. It’s 90 degrees out! People are literally walking around the office in jeans and T-shirt’s but my shorts aren’t appropriate? Sometimes I feel that complaints like this are just plain misogyny.
Problematic trainee
I have been working at my current employer for almost a year now and although I’m not a designated trainer(we don’t have any), I continue to be given trainees, I’m on number three. They all are older then me by a minimum of 10 years. They all ignore me when I try explaining to them how to do something and why it need to be done while also telling them that if they can find a better way to do it that they are more then welcome if it doesn’t effect my portion of the work. Today I had enough of my third trainer who has lied to me about her mistakes, lied to my team lead about her mistakes and even going so far to tell me that I and another coworker made the mistake or told her to do it when we did not. She ignored me then…
I quit a job of 4.5 years because they started expecting me to reach unrealistic goals. Went to a new job that was 10 times worse so I walked out after 3 weeks. Started another job last week. 1st week was good now on my second week their riding my ass about not being fast enough. I come in I work a steady consistent speed all day. My work is right and they compliment my quality but are irritated that it takes me so long to make what I’m making. I’m starting to think that I’m just a slow worker . Every job I’ve ever had complains I work slow yet what I’m doing is done right. When I do it fast it’s half assed or wrong and I just can’t mentally do that.
My story is UK based and I was hired initially by a law firm to be head of software dev. I was told that I'd have someone under me who needed “structure” in their work day and to lead on the development of a piece of software. During my first day, I noticed this person did not present themselves fully as male so just to clarify, I asked for pronouns. She replied to say I was the only person in the company to ask for pronouns and it was “she/her”. Eventually with my help, she came out to the rest of the company as a transwoman with my support. I also found out this person required specific needs which I also supported fully as she was diagnosed with ADHD. A month later, my managing director got me alone and said to me one to one that he wanted to kick…
Fed up, but trying to be ‘sensible’
I’m sure many of you have been in a similar situation to mine, but here goes. Been in my job for 2 years this week- 19th August to be exact (essentially operations and FOH ‘coordinator’ for want of a better word, for a serviced office provider in London) Main aim of me getting into this sector was to progress to a sales role and make £££/$$$ to eventually fund my own business and not have to work for someone else ever again. Realised early on that the company was pretty badly set up and run- one of those that is always ‘getting by’ rather than ‘getting ahead’- bad facility set ups tend to be ignored if there aren’t major complaints (in the location I work at, they don’t become major mostly due to me being pretty good at neutralising complaints in general), outdated tech/processes/facilities are rife and a pain to…
Hello Everyone. To preface this, I just want to say, I am not looking for pity or a handout. I am still searching for jobs, still chatting with people, and maybe even uprooting my current location. —— Brief Background: I come from a poor background. My parents have been sick my whole life as well as I. Mom is a cancer survivor who is in remission. Dad broke his back completely 9 years ago leaving him disabled. Neither went to college as their parents couldn’t afford it and my father was a rape child (rough upbringing). After high school, I had scholarships to study Poli-Sci at multiple great schools. Turned down for a BBA. Studied hard, got scholarships, partied a lot, made tons of friends, lost tons of friends, held a tech internship, worked for my university. Got laid from tech off before 2022. Got into an MBA program with…
