my old Narcissistic boss just happened to find me at the store while I was shopping for groceries and demanded that I work for her again. They have had issues trying to find someone to replace me, basically claimed they went through six people in two years. Knowing that every promise she was making was a lie (even in writing, they would find a way to weasel their way out), I told her to eat shit in the nicest way I could. I don't know how she got the brass to do that.

Story time: So my boss (upper middle management type) shows up and asks me to turn in a daily report to the corporate office by 8am. No big deal, I usually do it the end of day before or first thing at 5am. So I say “Okay” and get back to work. Boss: “…That's it, just okay?” So I briefly explain what the report is, and that it's already getting done on time, and that I was the one who forwarded him the company memo about the reports at 8am bit 2 days ago and had already replied to him that we were already good with it. Boss: “No, not that, I mean just 'okay' isn't an acceptable response” and starts talking about my poor attitude with him and how he's the boss and I need to be more respectful and some other stuff like smiling more. (There's 10+ years…
Listen to this bullshit. I wasn’t even actively job hunting. Recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn about a position with a base salary range of up to $100k depending on experience. Cool right? I took the first call with her told her I’d want to be around $85k base. Seemed a fair ask considering I have strong relevant experience for the position. They then set me up to have a call with a second person at the recruiting firm who is supposed to be “tough” and I was going to really need to impress her to get my resume passes along to the employer. Crushed that call. She says expect next steps by Friday. Well then today I get an email from them saying “Oh actually they want to offer this position at a $60K base, are you still interested?” Uh that’s gonna be a big no you fucks.…
Hey guys ( I’m new to this sub) so here I go. I was supposed to get off work at 9 but ended up having to stay after my scheduled time to wait for the manager to finish something. They said verbatim “let me finish this and you can go” so I waited about 20 minutes before they let me leave but now they’re saying that I didn’t do this or that ( even though there are two other people who can do it that’s also their responsibility) and now theyre going to write me up for it. What should I do?
What do you do to make $100k+ /yr.
Can I refuse to sign a write up?
As the title says, can I refuse to sign a write up from my employer? What are the consequences if I do? My job is write-up happy and I don’t feel it’s deserved.
Title says it all. I work at McDonald's in America. It was the first day everyone was back in school, we are located by 2 high-schools so it gets very busy. I asked over the headset if there was anyone available that could cover my spot so I could go to the bathroom, it had gotten to the point I couldn't hold it for much longer, and my cousin, no one knows we're cousins, was the only one who responded. She covered for me, but apparently installed the drive thru for a minute because she has previously be in charge of making drinks. When I got back literally 3 minutes later the general manager wrote me up for insubordination and sent me home and hour and a half early, in the middle of lunch. Turns out neither of the managers on duty had head sets on, so they didn't know…
like if were gonna get paid shit, atleast it would be nice to have 1 more day off (for same annual pay as the 5 day a week one and less hours.) not only that but since people only work 4 days a week, employers would have to hire more people to cover that extra day off, so unemployment would go down and more people would have jobs, and theyd have more free time to do stuff, and since they have more free time theyd also probably go out more, spend money on shopping, clothing, anything else contributing more to economy.
So. About 6 weeks ago, I slipped and fell at my job. For context I work in a steel machining factory, with lathes, grinders, swagers, assembly lines, press stations, etc. Most of the machines, I'd not all, require some sort of oil and or coolant for lubrication the machining process. It is standard operating procedure that every operator cleans there section at end of shift, including mopping the floors. I had walked through an area that another operator, a coworker of mine, was responsible for and he (as well as the operator on 1st shift. I work 2nd shift) are notorious for not mopping the floor. They just don't do it literally ever. And nobody ever seems to say anything to them about it. Anyhow I walk through his section on the way to my section. I slipped and fell and landed hard on my left arm. I immediately lept…
don’t feel bad about not wanting to work
one- no one asked to be born in a society were you have to pay for everything. and two- the cost of living is expensive and you can’t sign out of it without dying. even self sustaining hermits who live in the woods have to make a living somehow. many of us are not given a choice and forced to work even if the work sucks your soul and doesn’t pay well so don’t feel bad when you reasonably resent that and how hard it is to make a living. I don’t think we’re lazy, i think many of us would be happy to work if we could sustain ourselves with one part time job with a livable wage and reasonable expectations.
