Hello everyone! I've been working at the same place for a few years now, the work is interesting but over time and with seniority it has given me more and more work and responsibility, but the rewards have not improved that much. The problem is that the environment is heavy, the management is not the best and several colleagues have left, one after the other. And now my turn has come, I was offered a great opportunity in another company and I decided to accept. I feel guilty because the company where I am currently is having a hard time hiring and everyone is leaving but I don't want to miss this opportunity. So I am autistic but I worked customer service jobs like retail and hospitality for 10 years that I’m sick of the customer abuse and being treated like a servant slave. I always get scared of mean asshole demanding type customers that want discount that saying no means they will rise hell until you give them what they want. I just want customers to follow the rules and not behave like Walmart customers. He also thinks that my hate for long commutes to a job is the result of my autism I was diagnosed with when I was a child when it’s the fact that after Covid I realized how much time I was wasting commuting on the traffic filled freeway and wfh jobs that I could be wfh and not commuting at all to save gas money.

I have a little success story to share, since we have so many downer stories on this sub. My tiny little 20 person company is 100% remote, and that is one of the reasons I have stayed. We have been purchased by a slightly larger company, about 250 people. New bosses came in and promised that nothing would change. Then in my first 1v1 meeting with the management they start talking about buying an office and bringing everyone on site. Word got around, no one was happy. Less than 24 hours later they relented, said there was a “miscommunication” and that there were no plans to bring anyone on site in the next 1-3 years, and if they did get a location it would be optional for us to come in. Its nice to know that when we act together, we can affect change.

I was gone on a week long vacation. I already work in an understaffed office in a some what notable college. I spent the week before I left on vacation trying to make sure if anyone needed anything from me to let me know before I left or I wouldn't respond till I get back. No one needed anything and so I left without a worry. I was gone for only one week and immediately my job began texting me on my personal phone asking work related questions, asking me to check emails, etc. I did not respond and I told them that where I was there was not even much cell service. I tried to ignore it but it left me in a sour mood for parts of my vacation. When I arrived back, I was told by the head of the department “I heard you didn't have cell…

Currently I work 50 hours a week. I feel as if I have no time after work. Either I’m annoyed from 10 hours in the same place, or I feel pressured to prep for the next day of work meaning I can’t go out and enjoy life. I pretty much in a cycle I hate. • From 5-5 I work, this includes getting ready in the morning & the commute between work. • 5-7 cook eat and clean. • 7-9 is chaotic. Usually I try to work in my little home shop, I’m caught up doing chores running errand buying groceries out with my girlfriend while always trying to squeeze in my dogs daily walk. • 9 to 11 I back lunch, shower, study or watch Netflix. When I was first hired they said I could go remote since I stated I may move within the next year. They said that was fine and now that it’s happening, I was told I couldn’t work there. Can I collect unemployment for that? Do I have any options or just let them can me?

My job has had some issues in the past with paying its US employees on time. While I know it can be a big deal I never made a fuss bc this job allows me to work from home with my kid and there is some downtime. They had never paid us more than a week late and this only ever happened just a little over a handful of times in the couple of yrs I’ve been with them. This time is different though. They owe us a paycheck from two weeks ago and our next paycheck is coming up in like a day. They don’t have anything useful to say when I ask them about it other than “we don’t know when payroll will be processed” “we don’t have an update at this time”. Hello! I need some serious pep talk to get me to quit my job. The lead on my project recently resigned and he maintains SO MUCH of the planning of our projects. Basically without him, I’m the next obvious choice in taking over his work and stepping up as the lead. Now I have already been planning on resigning because our work is so stressful, we travel way too much, and we’re under staffed. I had let my manager know of my issues and they responded well and are actively trying to hire new people, but it’s far too late. The training takes way too long and I’m mentally exhausted at this point. I’m paid pretty well but it’s really not worth the stress. My issue now is how do I quit without an insane amount of guilt I’m putting on the rest of my team? I love my team…

Started at a new law firm a few weeks back. im in san diego ca. its my third law firm. everyone always assumes im just office services or with canon. is this called something? sorry if wrong sub
