Like when you are micromanaged, passion is squashed, freedom is squashed, or can't get a basic thing done due to management? ​

My husband works for a very popular road service and semi tech company here in KY. Recently he was “promoted ” to roadside calls as well as shop duty. He will work 830am to 5pm in the shop and then “be on call” from 5 to 830am the next day for roadside….and then be expected back at 830am for shop duty. Some nights are more stress than others but often (like last night) he works 830am to 5 in the shop and then did not get home from road calls till 5am. Is there any legal requirement that allows him a break before going back? He is so wiped I often worry about him, being on the side of the interstate under a big ass semi while exhausted ain't OK :/

We (non engineering team of 3-4 people) were having a meeting with the engineering team. Normal course of daily calls. My manager asks them to speed up their work so that later we can work on the data. He goes on to say “guys you need to be quicker, if you guys don't do it on time, they'll be late as well, you know how lazy the analysts (our team of 3 people) are, Especially xyz (that's me), pause of 10 secs Just kidding” This just ruined my day. I was really proud of working here. Love the team and my work. But lately things became toxic. I believe every joke has some truth to it and if there is, just let me know personally, why humiliate someone out of the blue infront of other team members!!! That's not how you give feedback.

I have recently become burnt out from moving houses while working a full time, minimum wage job in London hence my doctors wrote a sick note suggesting a 4-days working week (which I previously asked and was denied from my employer). Upon submitting such note, the business owner became really angry and told me I can’t do that, dialogue was very difficult and I was made feel like being ill a couple times over three months was unacceptable behaviour. The outcome of this conversation has been the owner forcing a full on sick leave (which I don’t really want) and then returning to work full time after two weeks. Now, I don’t really want to take this leave but can she force it upon me? She has also said it will be active from Friday onwards, but I haven’t spoken to my GP to change the conditions on my doctor…

I'm (31) in the lucky/rare space where I actually enjoy the functions of my job. I work for a nonprofit member services organization doing government affairs (not a lobbyist). I have a number of projects in the works, but they're all at a place where they are with my supervisor either for review, or to sign off on moving forward. Many of which are beneficial to our members and are based on feedback we received from them in the past. I'm honestly pretty proud of the drafts/plans I have in place. This supervisor is the department head, and they are hiring for my direct supervisor (this supervisor did not put the salary in the job description and lo and behold has been having trouble getting people to accept their offers. I’ve been working at a pretty lax job for the past 2 months, to the point to where I hardly do anything and the managers/bosses never check up on you. Well 2 weeks ago I forgot to clock out on a Thursday and I texted a manager but It didn’t go through so I was gunna play it off like I didn’t know it didn’t go through. Like I said it’s been 2 weeks and I’m just wondering if I do get a bigger check will it go unnoticed or will someone for sure find out about it?

I noticed a discrepancy in my paystub several months back and made a complaint with the employer that there was an illegal deduction being processed. Following an investigation, I just received back wages equivalent to 3 months of work. Always check your paystubs.

These wonderful people who have been making these masterpieces of animation have been without jobs. But why & how? You have writers, animators, actors, etc.:. You have an entire workforce with insane portfolios. You can group yourselves together (you’re already unionized) and gather funding by way of crowdsourcing or by directly sourcing from wealthy potential investors — people that you’ve likely come into contact with in your business. I think I am being paid less than two fellow coworkers. For context, I work for a government entity. My 2 coworkers and I have the same job title and classification; however, I found out they are being paid for a different, higher job title — this equates to about $2 more per hour for each of them. They are not actually performing the tasks associated with the higher job title or “working out of classification”. One of the coworkers does not possess the necessary license for this other title; the other worker does. I am in a union, but I confess it isn’t very strong and was weakened over the years by management and a corrupt former union president. I don’t even know where to begin here.
