I (22m) work an armed security job, i’ve been working here since march making $17/hr. They just hired a new guy (23m) last week to work the body scanner in the back (unarmed) and he’s making $22/hr. I don’t think it’s fair and i don’t know what to do, any advice??
I left a job I just started in California due to needing to go to an inpatient rehab facility. My manager is trying to tell me to resign and that the company will not contest an unemployment claim. I emailed HR asking if they will contest an unemployment claim and they said: “While I cannot guarantee what the state California will approve you for, XXXXXXXXX will not contest your application. ” from HR lady Do I resign and leave in “good standing” like my manager wants or tell him to fire me? He claims it will be easier to hire me back when I am doing well again…
I am quitting my job in a few months.
I have been waiting for this day to come. I am quitting my job in a few months. Nobody in the company knows and I feel so happy leaving them behind. We are in a small company and they are not hiring anyone to replace people who left. They often played favoritism. This is such a poorly managed organization. I feel sick everyday I am working for them. Manager tried to bully me as well during my years of working for them. He always criticized my work since I started here and nothing is ever good enough. They show no appreciation for my work. There was no raises or promotions. It feels dead end here. I will not look back and keep looking forward once I quit and hand in my letter in office I have enough saved up so I am saying goodbye to this toxic environment. No, I…
Yesterday I got en email dismissing me citing: Failure to follow absence procedure when I was ill as I should call in each day I’m absent in lieu of a doctor’s note, despite me emailing them my statement of fitness which covered me for my entire absence and Failure to submit a request of annual leave 15-25 August, this is confirmed by the HR rep in the document I received. However, I have also a copy of my job acceptance email to this HR rep that explicitly states I will be unavailable during said dates. I also mentioned my leave on the phone and in person. Such as when I stated not to be put on any shifts outside of my contracted hours until after 25 August (this was in person). And I called in a few times while I was ill to update. There’s a few other reasons listed…
I have never been in a financial situation to open my own business. But once I hear a business owner talk to another business owner, for an employee you recently switched from x to y company. He told the other guy what they were paying the guy and not to pay more than 5% increase. and they agreed. Employees are being taken in for a ride. Bosses have more mutal understanding than most employees have with each other. No wonder they are able to win. If all employees quit for injustice on 1 employee, these wageslave masters would get in line in a day..
UAW trying to raise the bar
I'm an Autoworker and would like everyone to know we are in this fight to raise the middle class like UPS. https://youtu.be/4GGsT7-byDg
I'm serious, it's ridiculous. I shouldn't have to play the game of “will my boss pretend I never called out” because they didn't answer the phone. Especially when they say it needs to be in a specific time frame? Even more so, when you work somewhere like I do where you have a receptionist answering calls and passing on information, why do I need to call you specifically if you won't answer?
Two days ago, my manager (we'll refer to her as C) and I were closing down our store. There was also two other there, a maintenance person who isn't relevant, and the kitchen closer M. It was stressful as my boss had not scheduled enough people to work that night, so things were very stressful on the get-go. As closing shift starts, and we dont close til 11, it was just me working the front counter and drive thru and other things. As 11 rolls around, and since I'm scheduled to leave at 11, I get as much done between orders as possible. Sweeping, Mopping, stocking, etc. Earlier in the night the younger kids working and stuff handled most of that. I get most of the basic maintenance done and ask if I can leave and my manager says yes. So I leave and go home. I came in yesterday…
Question about annual leave
Hi, The company that I work for is changing its annual leave policy and I'm concerned by the direction they are taking. The company is an Education Tech firm and we work closely with schools. I've been with the company 5 years and they have now decided that taking annual leave during the school term is no longer an option. The team is small so people taking time off does make things a little difficult, but not impossible to manage. I'm worried about this restriction, as there are days that I'd like to take off that don't coincide with school holidays (i.e. half terms, Christmas, easter and summer break). Am I being insensitive to the nature of the company and the realities of working in a small team? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
