Inequality in the United States

Mostly just whining. Today as my brakes gave out in my work truck that's been needing work done on it on a near monthly basis and it made me stop and think… Some people have no idea what it's like to work full time while also having an empty fridge and thousands in debt. I need help. We all need help. This has been me screaming into the uncaring wind.

Got my second write up and feeling so defeated

If you check my post history I've been posting and commenting about my current position a bit over the past couple weeks. The last two days I called out sick because I was feeling sick. And today when I came in my manager (formerly the director of our department and was very light touch back then, before my real manager quit for another position) wrote me up a second time due to attendance issues. To be fair, I've had 17 outs through this year, their policy is no more than 3 outs per quarter, so no more than 12 per year. I understand that's the policy, but I have my reasons and I think lots of you would be pretty understanding. What gets to me is that in the year and several months worth of time that I've worked here, I've taken on a ton of additional responsibility as staffing…

Drastic change of pay terms

Data Entry Online Job 2 months ago I posted about online works while in Africa and someone reached out to me and offered me a job and ther data entry assistant. They work for a company as a data entry clerk and extends their work to me. We set up a VPN and I have their account log in details. It's been a month of working with them and it's been a great experience. I was getting paid by the hour, 4$/hr and I'd mostly do 40+hrs a week. Now today they came up with a new pay scheme. Where I get paid per documents filled in an hour and the accuracy starting Monday. I see myself making 2$/hr now, I don't know how to feel about this, I thought my boss and I were moving on a an upwards scale on to move 2 steps back. Any suggestions and…

My 16 year old niece crashed her car after a 16 hour shift.

I don't know much about work, but I know this is fucked. My 16 neice (year older than me) is working in some field that has to do with CNA's. She needs experience since it's what she plans her career to be. Anyway, the company she has been working for has been absolutely overloading her with hours. She has little time between basically raising her siblings, doing chores, trying to make time to see both of her divorced parents, and work all the time. She has barely been able to enjoy her summer. When she wants to visit her father (my sisters husband), she has to leave at four A.M. the next day. Not to mention the job will make her do difficult jobs alone, when she is not qualified for that. Like it's literally a rule that she can't be alone in that area, but they allow it anyway.…

Boss is charging me

I work at a warehouse and a part was missing I got called into his office then he informed me I have to pay 200 bucks to replace it. Of course I do all the stock and receiving so any part that goes missing is on me. Constantly getting blamed for things out of my control. Any attempt to argue my innocence is shot down I hate my boss so much I can't stop feeling angry and hateful Everytime I see him. Guy makes a million a month in revenue and asks me scrapping by to pay for this shit I hate this and cherish every last second I don't have to look at him or hear his voice rant over Edit: thank you all for the helpful advice due to general consensus I will talk to the labor department I want my boss to feel how I feel right…

Should I get a degree in IT if my company pays for it?

I am a t1 service desk associate for a hospital with 2.5 years of experience with a google it support certification making 19.78 an hour which is pretty low, I recently applied for a job internally for a iam(identity access management) which is a subset of cyber security. A co worker who has worked here maybe a month or 2 less than me but has a college degree already interviewed and was giving an iam position, where I was only given a rejection letter not even an interview for an internal position. We both have good ratings on our reviews and both do extra for the service desk we work on. I can't help but feeling depressed that I could not even get an interview for an internal position. I am 34 and not in a great position to go to school and do my job but this amount of…

HR emailed to let us know all cost of living raises are on hold… except the bosses’ of course! (A rant)

I work in billing for a chain of doctor’s offices in another state (Arizona). I’m completely work from home, which is great. When I started working here, my entire paycheck came from one Legal Entity (there are 7 offices/legal entities and I work as if they’re all one office even though they have separate tax ID’s). Then last year they changed it without telling us, to where my paycheck is split into 7, so I get 7 different deposits each payday. The amount I’m paid is the same, but taxes were an extra pain in the ass because of having so many W2’s. We typically get small raises every August. When I say small, I mean I didn’t even realize I got one last year, it was only 2k annual increase. It isn’t performance based, it’s cost of living based. Tomorrow is payday, second in August, so I’ve been anticipating…

Is it bad that i actually like my job?

I (F17) recently got a job and I have been enjoying it, Ive been working 6h a day for the last couple weeks Monday-Friday. I like my manager because shes nice and not forcing me to work as hard as I probably should, I like my co-workers they are all extremely kind and fun to talk to. Ive mostly been putting returns and doing shelving and ocasionally helping a customer or opening up displays and helping at self checkout. I like all of this and I'm not sure if i should. I always thought working would be more stressful and anxiety causing but this has been a really chill experience. Am i wrong for enjoying my job so far?

Got fired before I started

Sorry, its a rant: So I've been out of work more than a month. I'm behind 2 months on car payment, car has no insurance since Jan. Not registered since March. No money to pay credit cards, they've all fallen behind. Basically, shits fucked so I apply to alot of things I know how to do retail management wise. Get a call back from Sam's club sounds crappy but 22hr. Whatever. After like a week of computer issues on their end I finally get the offer letter. So that much deeper in money hole. Get start date oh but just an orientation, cool. I go in and immediately they are the shittiest people, just rude. The management is completely female and im a male with tattoos and like face hair. I'm like ok maybe I have to get to know them, maybe they just weren't expecting a guy or something.…
