I see an article from the major outlets about how work from home is terrible on productivity almost every day..

Quiet fired at 58 years old
I'm about to turn 58. If I stick around my company a couple of more years I'll be eligible for retirement (which means almost nothing these days). My company has recently done some reorganization and layoffs. I wasn't let go, but recently I've noticed that I'm not being assigned any meaningful work. I'm not being invited to any meetings. Anyone else experience this? I'm not relishing entering the job market at this age. FYI, I know SQL, MS Power Apps, that's what I've been working on prior to doing next to nothing.
Interviewer late
Sat here at Harley Davidson, waiting to be interviewed for a production supervisor role. Interview was at 10am it's now 10:25 and I'm sat here twiddling my thumbs. They obviously have no respect for my time.
I live in Australia and there are only two cities which attract a lot of people, as such the job market is very competitive and the labor laws are very anti-worker. Here are a few examples of things that happen here which are not common in the US: Employees can get in legal trouble for not providing notice (see criminal record) while employers can let go of an employee at any time citing 'misconduct'. Unpaid trial shifts are common and legally encouraged by the government. Hundreds of people apply for a simply dishwashing job. Employees need to provide notice even if their employer fails to pay them, or the employee can be taken to the fair work tribunal (a court) Sham contracting is done by the government itself. Little things like these add up.
My Mom was just fired
My mom has been working at this shitty company and during that time she has been dealing with medical issues where it's made it difficult for her to work. Because of this she has been frequently having to visit doctors and was recently in the ER for a blood pressure at 253/139 and anomia. Afterwards she visited her doctor again that wrote a note saying she would be out until x day to see how her new blood pressure meds would affect her. Now apparently the company “policy” was they don't care about the note they wanted her to call off every day so she could accumulate points. So from my understanding they wanted to try and make it look like they fired her for attendence even though those absences were medical reasons. There is a couple other things but from that alone I'm pretty sure we can take legal…
I need to get out of here lol. any ideas for fake excuses I can use to quickly leave?
So next week I'm going out of town Thursday Friday and coming back Monday night. So I scheduled off that Thursday and didn't scheduled off that Friday because I was going to work overtime this week so I can comp the hours (any hours I work late I can put it towards time off) However the problem is that 2 of my coworkers also took off that day. One has to drive their son to hospital for a surgery and the other one is out of town. I told both coworkers that I'll be going out of town that week months in advance but never put in. My supervisor basically told me that he can't allow anyone else to take off because we're short staffed we have 6/14 in our department. I told him that I'll be leaving Thursday morning no matter and not coming back til Monday. I asked…
Song for the sub I found today
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sqSA-SY5Hro I feel this is quite fitting here
I’ve found in the places that I work and heard from other people that usually the older somebody is at their job, the meaner and more incompatible they are at doing it. It’s like the second people hit their 50’s they decide they have to be assholes. This applies to my parents, my coworkers no matter where I’ve worked, and even at church. My parents have complained about me and my siblings and their younger coworkers “not caring” about their issues at work – but what’s really going on is they’re not adapting to the modern times. For example my mom is a nurse practitioner, and her company recently hired a new NP who is very young. He is paid almost the same as her because he demanded a proper pay, he is paid hourly so he works less than everyone else because he knows his limits, and he takes…
