Since they didn't do their part on our deal, I started delivering a crappy work. Job offer rescinded due to paperwork

So I interviewed for a job as a teacher abroad through an agency to work in a govt school, met with the principal who interviewed me (coincidence we are from the same city!) but the interview went so well and we even discussed jobs further up the ladder and he mentioned what he had in mind for me. Fast forward 2 weeks later i’ve been made aware i’ve got the job and after the agency got back to me i’ve had to fill in some paper work and show proof of my qualifications. Everything’s sent to the agency, agency seem happy with everything, long process to get docs verified etc (took another 3/4 weeks) i’m stressing as i’m coming to the end of my notice period and the agency emails me to say they’ve decided to no longer go ahead. This story is set in the Canadian province of Ontario. Our company was having a one week shutdown for cleaning, maintenance and repairs. As a senior employee, I had the option to work through it. Most of the managers are away. Anyway, on the first day, my wife notifies me that she has gotten a great deal on a vacation in Nova Scotia and that we are going next week. I have been married long enough to acknowledge her wisdom. Thus, I put in my vacation notice. I give it to the stand-in manager (from my department but different shift). Still waiting on my last paycheck

I work as a paraprofessional educator for students with special needs. I recently left one school to go work for another with the incentive being a decent jump in pay. I left the old job at the end of a two week pay period which meant I could expect my usual check on 8/3. Except I still haven’t received it. I was annoyed at first but assumed it was likely in the mail. I emailed HR on Monday to see if that was the case. They informed me that it was direct deposited as usual. Which was weird considering no it wasn’t. They insisted that this was a problem with my bank and there was nothing they could do. I called my bank to cover my bases and sure enough, no deposit. Boss guilt tripping me for leaving

I 20F work at a sandwich shop as an opener and have been working there for a month ish. I go back to school in the fall. I said to boss in the interview that I would not be going back to school to get the job as I was desperate and no one else was hiring. This was in late june. I handed in my two weeks today and told my boss I was going back to school in September. He proceeded to tell me that what I was doing was “not right”. That I made a “verbal contract to stay” and he would have hired someone else. Then he accused me of lying about why I had to go back to school. Instead of huge USA work reforms, why don’t we start with something simple and achievable? Like cashiers being able to sit.

It's going to take a lot to change things like standard benefits, mandatory pto, work hours, and similar items. Especially to match other modern countries. Why don't we as workers/human beings, regardless of your profession, band together and demand something smaller like letting cashiers sit. It's so barbaric to force someone to stand for 8 hours for no good reason. I say “LET THEM SIT! LET THEM SIT!”

Performance evaluation: Is this response too much?

We just finished up our performance evaluations at work and my team was discussing how they went. One of the things our manager likes to ask is how we would evaluate the organization to guage the likelihood we'll stay another year. A little background, we're unionized and in a role that is fairly difficult to fire once we're out of probation. One of my colleagues said the question was posed to them as, why do you still work here. I told them that my evaluation ran long so we didn't get to that part of the review, which worked out because I hadn't come up with, “because we live in a capitalist hellhole that doesn't have universal basic income” as my response yet. I got a few reactions…. Was my response too much?

Seriously. Breaks should be breaks, clearly defined.

Work at a factory. Ten minute breaks, thirty minute lunch. But, gotta be back by second bell. So, 5pm bell rings. Go to break. 5:08 bell rings, warning. 5:10, better be at your machine. Doesn’t matter if your machine is a minute from break room or 3, you get that 5-5:08 time frame. As a supervisor, I’m supposed to enforce this. As a laidback supervisor who cares about the people, I’m angry some are gettin an 8 minute break, some a 5, etc.
