Posting on behalf of my coworker – I thought this would be a good place to ask, but please let me know if there is a better forum! My coworker is really concerned that he’s going to get fired soon. He has good performance and appears to do his job adequately, but he has been sick a few times and had a few different appointments in the several months he’s been working here, which our management famously does not like. He’s probably only missed 4-5 days in total. I’ve been trying to calm him down by showing him that our company doesn’t have any job postings listed on LinkedIn for his position. However, he is saying that they probably just hide their open positions from their current employees. We have googled and can’t actually find out if this is possible or not. Do any of you know if employers can…

What are we even working for if our basic needs aren’t even being met?
Waiting on Promotion
I work a public government position. I have been working at my current job since 2019. My boss, is fantastic (rare, I know). They are very open with how things are going and 2 years ago, they told me that they put in for my promotion. They told me that for the past year and a half that I had been going above and beyond my current position and they put in a request to have me promoted. I'm thinking, hell yeah. I'll take it. Jump forward, the time comes up where I should be promoted and they say, it has to wait. The entire company is redoing paybands and we have to wait. My pay did get an increase, which was nice as I was getting paid under the average for my profession, but I have good benefits. However I was told there was no more money in the…
They're afraid of us.
How to make it worth it?
So I work at a veterinary practice. I found out that the owner is trying to get rid of me while my practice manager is saying there is no reason to. I do my job, I get things done, and I keep things civil everytime. Now with this knowledge I have kept track of when the owner has done some questionable things. They're doing x-rays on humans, which to me seems illegal and cost a license. They've prescribed out medications to family members without seeing them within the legal amount of time and just giving them to family so they don't have to see them. With this in mind is there a way I can report and really cost the owner as my own type of revenge of just fucking people over all these years?
Being sent home over farting.
Hi all I know this may seem like a joke post but I can assure you it’s not. I have just been sent home and told not to come back until someone contacts me over farting. I’ll explain what basically happened – I was packing the milk fridge when I suddenly felt like I was going to sneeze so I turned my head away from the fridge and sneezed into my sleeve avoiding any germs on the products , but unfortunately while sneezing I let off a bit of a load fart by complete accident with my back facing the milk. A manager who was helping a customer immediately walked up to me and called me to the back . Where I was told that my behaviour was unacceptable and I must leave and not come back until further notice were I will then have a meeting. Just wondering what…
First some context: The last few years weren't easy. I've always been working as a nurse. Because of a medical problem on both of my eyes, I needed to have a cornea transplant. Long story short, it went terribly wrong and ended up with four more surgeries to repair and make the best of it. This resulted in getting the message from the surgeon that his advice would be to give up my job as a nurse. The risk of getting poked in the eye by a confused/angry patient was a risk I better did not take. I was a year home sick, with no eyesight. Slowly, my eyes started to heal, and I put on my big boy pants and searched for something I wanted to do. After some research, I was considering IT. A search on the internet provided me with some companies who work for hospitals. I…
I work at my job for 3 years My boss wants to fire me Usually we go through a union and its almost impossible to get fired unless you massively mess up a billion times They informed me that apparently 3 years ago, after probation, i didnt fill out my employment forms so I never got my real employment status I feel like since I worked there for 3 years I am still entitled to the same treatment as other employees Thoughts ?
