I’m done trying
I got my mid year performance review last week and it's ridiculous. I was rated as “meets expectations” after going above and beyond. I worked on projects, wrote training docs and recorded videos, created a calendar to track a group task (that I update myself every month), AND have been cross trained at least 3 times to handle different backlogs. What kind of expectations are those??? The worst part is that this is a good place to work. Until my most recent manager I never had this issue. It's so fucking stupid. I'm done. You refuse to recognize my hard work? Fine. You don't get it anymore.
Update from my previous post
Things came to a boiling point this week after I heard my culinary co-workers mocking and ridiculing me about going to HR over being harassed by them. I put in my leave of absence as of yesterday and let it be know I will be reaching out to an attorney. I just got off the phone with the attorney’s office as well. I will be meeting with them in person on Monday with all paperwork and statements in like. I really excited and nervous because this is the first time I’ve done something like this before. But I feel really proud of myself for doing this
Wife's place of work was raided by FBI agents. All employees were sent home immediately with no mention if they'd be back in office tomorrow. What are some things we can do to either protect ourselves or prepare for something worse? We're located in Hawaii and she works full-time at a physical therapy clinic. Any advice is welcome. Thank you!
My company won’t let me quit.
I work for a big evil company. I am a very small part of said big evil company. I got tired of being a small part of that so I went out and got a new job offer. Now today when I tried to give my 2 weeks notice I was told I can’t take a new job until my contract runs out. Approx 10 weeks from now. Or else (inset vague legal threat here) Waiting to hear back from a lawyer now. But have any of you ever experienced this because currently I’m freaking out cause apparently, I’m quite literally a wage slave.
These Corporations Don’t Care!
Yesterday during payroll processing we noticed on a report that an employee’s hours were much fewer than normal so we reached out to his manager to find out why. We were told he died before the pay cycle ended!! 🤯 No one thought to even notify HR/Payroll?!? The guy worked like a dog 7 days a week and they couldn’t even bother with a notice. These companies DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU!! Please take care of yourself. SMH
I work for a defense contractor, and as such hand been sent to work remotely on several occasions. Due to a management shortage I was asked to work a duty manager position for several areas. I accepted, with the understanding that I would work from home during this time. My request was approved by management, my computer was given the access needed to work remotely (access company network through private Wi-Fi), and I went home and set up a table in my den. I covered multiple shifts, making phone calls both morning and night. I was also on call 24/7 during this time. I charged 12 hours per day, the standard shift for an overlap and multi shift schedule. I have been back at work for several months and found out HR had opened an investigation into me. I was told that I was to only be paid for the…
Paycut/ demotion or severance and leave
Venting about being taken advantage of. I’ve been with this company for awhile now. I had gotten two promotions while there. I left and returned within a brief period and only accepted return to work based on salary requirements. I was promised in writing and contractually that I would receive manager salary and manage a team throughout the summer. This position was to continue into our new project that I would be overseeing. I returned to the job with the expectation I would continue manager role as discussed. I worked as a manager all summer. However, I was just asked to either take a pay cut and demotion back down to a previous title that’s not manager or I could take severance and leave. I feel like this is really shady for a few reasons. I feel like this is retaliation for speaking up about issues. I reported bullying/ harassment…
payroll company dictates lunch times?
tldr we hired a new payroll company at work and they get to decide when our lunches are… so I'll be leaving. notice? or no notice?
